Can you put a home gym on carpet?

Yes. With the right product, it can be done without harming the carpeting. In most cases that involves a raised modular gym floor tile.
In some cases workout puzzle mats can be placed atop low pile carpeting - especially for wall-to-wall installations. Even those gym mats that fold or roll up can be placed over carpeting in some circumstances. These make it simple to create temporary spaces for working out.

How thick should home gym rubber flooring be?

We recommend thicknesses of at least 3/4 inches for Olympic weightlifting. However, a variety of thickness measurements are available. Be sure to check out our guide on gym flooring thickness.
