Interlocking Rubber Floor Tiles for Gyms, Garages, Homes and More
Some flooring installation work can take all day and require hiring a professional. But when you select rubber puzzle flooring from Greatmats, you will have an easy, DIY installation process that goes fast and yields a practical design.
Customers can use rubber flooring in a range of commercial and residential locations, delivering impressive durability that can stand up to almost any planned use case for the space.
The majority of our rubber puzzle flooring models have a square shape. However, the edges are not flat, as they have a jigsaw style edge, which greatly simplifies the installation. Anyone can connect the tiles, as you do not need to add glue. The interlocks will hold tightly.
Typically, these rubber puzzle mats will have a size of roughly 2x2 feet. The interlock edges do affect the overall coverage area of each tile, as each piece will be slightly less than 4 square feet. (The Greatmats customer service team can help you decide how many tiles you need for a particular layout and can provide price quotes.)
We offer several sizes other than 2x2 feet, including approximately 18x18 inches, 23x23 inches, 28x28 inches, 30x30 inches, 3x3 feet, and 4x4 feet. We even offer some large rectangular style rubber puzzle flooring options that measure about 4x6 feet.
Thickness measurements vary as well. You often can select among 1/4 inches, 8mm (about 5/16 inches), 3/8 inches, 1/2 inches and 3/4 inches.
The majority of our rubber puzzle flooring tiles come from manufacturers in the United States and Canada, so customers can trust the quality of the rubber material used in the tiles and the adherence to manufacturing tolerances.
Frequently, the manufacturers will rely on recycled rubber tires to create this product. This is a completely safe material to use on a floor where pets, children, and adults will be gathering. Additionally, by recycling these tires, the manufacturer is able to keep them out of the landfill, creating an eco-friendly option.
Some of our rubber puzzle flooring tiles will consist of 50% recycled rubber and 50% EPDM rubber granules.
The majority of our rubber interlocking tiles will have a black base color. However, in areas where you would like to add a splash of color, we offer several rubber puzzle flooring models that contain other base colors, including gray, green, red, blue, tan, and orange.
With some of the tiles, we offer models that have a color fleck added. These flecks can range in percentage of concentration from 10% to 50%. The flecks mold into both the black base color and the other base colors.
Even when the manufacturer adds color flecks to the rubber puzzle flooring, these colors do not affect the durability or integrity of these tiles.
Rubber flooring is ideal for any locations where significant durability and longevity is a necessity. Many of our customers consist of gym owners who are seeking a solution to problems with excessive noise in weightlifting areas. Additionally the rubber protects the subfloor from potential damage from dropped free weights.
Rubber has a natural tackiness to it, even when it is wet, so customers will install it in areas where kids may be running, playing, and potentially falling, such as a playground.
For residential users, customers may connect a series of rubber tiles to create a safe workout space. Rubber is a good flooring material to place underneath a stationary bike or a treadmill. It helps to hold the machines in place during use, while also cutting down on noise generation.
The simple do-it-yourself installation process is one of the biggest advantages of jigsaw edge rubber tiles. To tightly connect the tiles, just line up the slots on one tile with the tabs on the adjacent tile and press the edges together.
Because of the precise manufacturing tolerances used with the interlocking edges of these tiles, the tabs and slots fit tightly together without the need to add glue.
Rubber is a naturally heavy flooring material, so installers rarely need to place glue underneath the tiles. The weight of the flooring installation should hold it in place without sliding around while people are using it. By not using glue, customers can pick up the rubber tiles and return to the subfloor at any time.
Rubber flooring is one of the easiest styles of flooring for maintenance and care. It does not require specialized cleaning techniques.
To remove dust and other dry debris, use a push broom or a vacuum cleaner. For an outdoor installation, some customers choose to use a leaf blower to remove debris.
Another option for an outdoor installation or for an installation in an area with a floor drain is to rinse the floor with a garden hose and sprayer or with a power washer. Apply a diluted neutral pH cleaning solution with a mop, if desired. Allow it to air dry.
