4x4 Rubber Floor Mats for Gyms and Weight Rooms
When you need an extremely durable type of flooring for commercial areas or athletic gyms, we offer the black Rubberlock 4x4 Ft 1/2 Inch tiles. You can purchase these tough black tiles in pre-sized kits for an easy installation. Use the beveled edges available for each tile to achieve a finished look in your home or commercial gym floor. This option provides easy installation with no cutting required.
1. Commercial Grade Quality
If you want the highest level of durability in your flooring, these gym floor mats 1/2 inch thick will deliver the quality required. Using rubber as an option for flooring ensures that you'll keep the area underneath the 4x4 rubber floor mats protected from any heavy objects that you place on top of the mats, such as weight machines or heavy free weights. Additionally, the rubber flooring will not dent or fold when you place heavy objects on it.
Rubber flooring is able to dampen sound, which is another benefit of our 4x4 rubber floor mats. Rather than having loud shoes on a wooden gym floor, you can install this rubber flooring to reduce the noise levels.
Even in a home gym area, 4x4 rubber floor mats work well. Using them in an area with a limited amount of flooring space can save you a bit of money as it creates less waste than flooring rolls or larger mats. As an added benefit of using these tiles in a home gym, they can be removed and taken to a new location at any time.
To receive the greatest benefit from 4x4 rubber mat options, you need to make sure the tiles are of the best possible construction quality, which is why we only offer commercial grade materials and tolerances in our mats. For example, if the thickness of the gym floor mats 1/2 inch isn't consistent from tile to tile, the floor could fail. We guarantee the thickness tolerance of our mats to within 0.040 inches.
The 1/2 inch thick mats work great for areas where you'll be using weights. If you want a 4x4 rubber mat option that will work for cardio types of exercising, you can use a thinner option.
Because of the strong rubber construction, cleaning and maintaining these mats is extremely easy. For daily cleaning, you can sweep or vacuum the gym floor mats 1/2 inch thick. For stains that are a bit more stubborn, you can use warm water and a mild soap, such as dishwashing liquid.
The high quality of the 4x4 rubber mat construction is reflected in the 5-year limited manufacturer's warranty provided.
2. Interlocking Tiles for Easy Installation
These gym 4x4 foot tiles are available in corner, border and center tiles, which simplifies the installation process. Just select the correct type of 4x4 rubber floor mat tiles to place in each area of the room, and you'll save a lot of time in installation by not having to cut each tile.
Because these gym floor mats 1/2 inch in thickness each cover approximately 15.1 square feet, installation goes fast, even in a large area. With the 4x4 foot measurement of each tile, there is a slight loss of coverage area because of the interlocking design of these 4x4 rubber mat tiles.
Each tile weighs 57 pounds, meaning it will be difficult for one person to perform the installation alone. Having multiple people available for the installation process will make the process go faster too.
Before installing the mats, we recommend that you allow them to acclimate to the temperature of the room where you'll be placing them for at least 24 hours.
With the interlocking design of these 4x4 rubber floor mats, you can perform a dry lock installation. No adhesives are needed. The weight of the individual tiles will keep the floor in place, and the interlocking edges ensure that no seams come loose, causing a tripping hazard. Should you ever need to remove the tiles and move them to a new location, you can take them apart.
These 1/2 inch tiles have a thickness tolerance of plus or minus 0.040 inches, which ensures a high quality installation. Should you need a greater tolerance for the thickness of the tiles, we offer specifically designed plastic shims for this tile. You then cam use the shims on the gym floor mats 1/2 inch thickness tiles in order to ensure a floor that is precisely leveled. Shim Guide
It's important to understand that this material will have some rubber smell for several weeks after installation. This smell will dissipate with ventilation over time. You also can clean the tiles with a mild cleaner to attempt to reduce the intensity of the odor. However, these 4x4 rubber floor mats are not recommended for people with high sensitivity to odors, especially if the ventilation in the installation area is inadequate.
Additionally, if you will be installing these 4x4 rubber mat tiles in an area where the temperature will fluctuate greatly, you will need to allow for some expansion and contraction of the rubber mats. In certain instances of extreme temperature changes, you may need to use adhesive during the installation, but this is only recommended by a professional installer.

When ordering these 4x4 rubber mat tiles, you'll have several choices for the edges. Picking the right edges makes the installation go faster.

These kits with finished edges should eliminate the need for a lot of the cutting you have to do. However, if you do need to cut some of these mats, you can use a sharp utility knife with a straightedge, a jig saw, or a reciprocating saw. Using a lubricant, such as WD-40, on the knife blade or the saw blade will allow for better results. Placing a 2x4 board underneath the cutting area of the mat is another option for easing the cutting process when using a utility knife, this will open the cut as you score through the material, creating less friction with the blade.
When creating kits for the gym floor mats 1/2 inch tiles, understand that the pattern or grain of the top surface texture will not run in the same direction on all of the floor tiles. During construction, the mats are made in 4x8-foot pieces and then water jet cut into corners and/or borders as needed to make the exact sized pieces for a specific kit order. Some surface inconsistency may exist, such as shadowing, because of the recycled rubber. Returns will not be accepted for this product based on the appearance, so understand this before ordering.
