Portable Tap Dance Floors, Touring Dance Floors, Theatrical and Stage Flooring, Temporary Dance Floors
Vinyl Dance Floor, Vinyl Dance Flooring Roll, Roll Out Dance Floor
When seeking a temporary type of dance floor that looks great for performances, the Adagio Touring Cut Lengths per LF product delivers everything you need, all with impressive style.
The Adagio vinyl dance floor is designed to be used as a portable tap dance floor for touring tap and dance groups. This touring marley floor can be used on a temporary, or non-daily, schedule for touring groups of all kinds. Our portable tap dance flooring material can be used for all dance types, including tap, ballet, hip-hop, and jazz.
Tough and Lightweight
The Adagio vinyl dance flooring roll consists of the same material as our standard Adagio by Rosco material, but in a thinner and more portable version. The portable marley flooring is a tough, lightweight, and portable dance floor that is easy to install.
Our roll out dance floor product weighs only 1.6 pounds per linear foot, which means small sections of the floor are relatively easy to move, making it an idea flooring in situations where you need to move it regularly. Because this style of traveling marley roll provides a matte, non-reflective surface, it's an ideal option to use in all performance venues.
This touring marley floor has a Shore A 92 material hardness rating, which ensures it can stand up to many different use cases. This product is made in the EU, meaning you can count on the quality of the materials included in this portable marley flooring. It has a 5-year limited manufacturer's warranty to give you further confidence in the quality of the product.
This model of flooring measures less than 2 mm in thickness and is very flexible, which ensures years of carefree rolling and re-rolling. You can feel comfortable that the flooring will be ready to use, even after it has been in storage for a long time.
Using Tap Shoes
Even though this touring marley floor consists of a tough material, we do not recommend using it on a daily basis. For example, should you need to use tap shoes on the floor on a daily basis, such as for practice in a dance studio, we only recommend our full thickness Adagio flooring material. This Adagio Touring Cut Lengths per LF material is not thick enough for the demands of a tap floor that is in use on a regular basis.
Additionally, tap shoes with aluminum taps will leave black oxidation marks on all marley vinyl flooring material. This is more noticeable with gray colored flooring.
Tap shoes with steel taps will not leave black marks. However, all tap shoes could leave some non-colored markings on the floor. If you notice excessive markings from tap dancing, check the screws on the tap dance shoes.
You have multiple options for making use of the traveling marley roll, both with dancing and with other uses.
Dance Groups: The surface of the portable marley flooring is excellent for many dance forms, including ballet, modern, hip-hop, Irish, and jazz. It offers a firm surface, giving the dancers the sure footing they need to make sudden movements without the concern of sinking into the floor.
Tap Dancing: The Adagio Touring Cut Lengths per LF flooring has been specially designed to lay flat quickly and provide a surface with a terrific tap sound. As mentioned earlier, some types of tap shoes could leave black marks on the flooring surface. For this reason, you may want to stick with the black colored traveling marley roll if you know there will be tap dancing occurring on this floor.
Theater Groups: When taking a theater group on the road, the touring marley floor is a smart choice to take with you. After all, you never quite know what type of sub-floor you'll encounter when you travel to different locations, which means our flooring ensures you'll have a safe floor surface available for the performance. The solid colored portable marley flooring will look great too, giving you a surface that will match whatever set and props you have.
Some customers choose to carry their own sub-floor when taking this traveling marley roll to a performance location. This is a good idea when you will be at a location where you could have sharp objects on the sub-floor that the owner of the venue will not allow you to remove.
We have a variety of options for the perfect sub-floor material with our touring marley floor, including foam tiles or rolled rubber flooring. Just contact our customer service team to learn about some of your options for a sub-floor.
Before installing this floor, you will need to prepare the subfloor area. This flooring will be suitable for installation over wood, cement, or over a sub-floor as we mentioned earlier.
Remove any protrusions from the subfloor, such as nail heads, screw heads, or other sharp objects, before laying out the portable marley flooring. These sharp protrusions could damage the underside of the traveling marley roll. And because this flooring is so thin, these sharp objects could even poke all the way through the floor.
After receiving the roll of flooring, place it in the room where you'll be installing it. This means the material will acclimate to the temperature of the room before you must install it. Allowing the touring marley floor to match the temperature of the installation room is especially important in the winter time, as the flooring may have been shipped in below freezing temperatures.
You can use a matte knife and a straight edge to cut through this thin portable marley flooring. Because this flooring is 5.25 feet in width, you will need a large straight edge to cut across the entire width of the roll. Additionally, we recommend making multiple measurements to ensure you will make a straight cut across the roll.
You will tape down this floor, rather than using a permanent adhesive. With the tape, you can uninstall the traveling marley roll flooring when needed and place it in storage. Using tape also ensures that the floor will not curl at the edges, potentially causing a tripping hazard.
We recommend taping the seams on the surface of the floor as well. This prevents gaps between the sections that could cause a dancer to trip. Slide the two sections of the floor tightly together. Then run a piece of vinyl floor tape along the length of the seam to attach the two sections.
Rolls of touring marley floor should never be stored in a flat position, as this will cause the roll to flatten under its own weight and may cause a rippling in the material when it's unrolled again later. The material should always be stored in an upright standing position rolled up tight on a core.
If you don't have the original core that shipped with the traveling marley roll, you can use a 3-inch diameter PVC pipe as the core. Roll the flooring onto the core as straight as possible to prevent problems with coning. You also will want to tape down the end of the floor after it's rolled up to keep it tightly in place.
Some customers will wrap the portable marley flooring inside a polyethylene tarp to protect it from dust or other chemicals while it's in storage. Storing the flooring in a proper manner will give you the best long-term results, ensuring you receive a good value.
Maintenance and Ordering
It's important to keep this flooring as clean as possible to provide a long lifespan. We recommend that the floor be swept and mopped after every performance.
You can sweep this flooring style with a soft-bristled push broom. If you use a stiff bristle broom on the surface, it could leave scratches.
After sweeping the floor, you should mop it. Use warm water with Rosco All-Purpose Cleaner as the cleaning solution. If you must use another type of cleaning solution, just avoid using anything with ammonia, which will cause a slippery film to form on the floor's surface.
Allow the floor to air dry after mopping it. You can use the same cleaning solution with a soft cloth if you must remove a stubborn stain.
Additionally, to keep dust and particles on the floor to a minimum, place a mat at the edges of the floor where people can clean their feet. If the flooring will be near an exterior door, place a barrier between the exterior door and the flooring so people are not walking directly onto the dance flooring after entering the building from outside.
Each section of this traveling marley roll measures 5.25 feet in width, and you can pick the length of the flooring roll you want to order. This touring marley floor is available in either black or gray solid colors. It's not a reversible type of flooring, nor is it UV treated, so it cannot be used outside.

Q & A⌃ Back to top
If laying this floor over a concrete floor, what type of subflooring is needed or suggested?
What is the minimum amount I can buy? I don't need a whole room.
Decent floor... Will reserve judgement till we've had it a year.
Our new Rosco Adagio Touring Floor on stage! It was absolutely fantastic to have a similar floor on stage as ours floor in the studio! We love it!
We had great customer service with Greatmats and the floor was everything we wanted and so much more. My daughter danced on it for the first time today, and it worked beautifully. We use it as a portable tap surface. The tape didn't leave a residue and didn't damage the wooden gym floor underneath it.
