Choose this professional system from a world leader in professional dance floors, ROSCO. This panelized single layer flooring system from Rosco comes with the foam pads that make this flooring a sprung system.

How To Build A Sprung Dance Flooring Using Greatmats DIY Sprung Subfloor

A dance industry staple for top dance studios, sprung dance flooring is the top choice to bring safety and comfort to dancers during both practice and performance. Hiring someone to install this type of floor in your studio, however can be an expensive endeavor.

That's why we offer a customizable DIY Sprung Dance Floor System built with high quality Rosco components. Sprung dance flooring panels by ROSCO was developed and tested by dancers to insure the perfect combination of resilience (spring or bounce) with stability.

So how do you build a Sprung Dance Floor using these system you ask? Just follow these four easy steps.
  1. Begin by laying 2x4 boards around the perimeter of your desired sprung dance floor.
  2. Layout, measure and cut each of your customizing panels to span the gap between full panels and the 2x4's.
  3. Cover your sprung subfloor with 1/2-inch thick Medium-Density Fibreboard (MDF).
  4. Drill countersink holes and screw the MDF to the 2x4 perimeter frame and waves of adjacente subfloor panels.
Gain the unique benefit of an overlapping dance sprung floor with no soft spots and the option to save money. Save money upfront by doing more of the installation yourself while still getting the full benefit of the best dance sprung floor on the market with WaveLock technology. WaveLock technology eliminates any soft or hard spots in your floor, and this unique system is free-floating and not attached to the base floor which means it can react better to the movements of the dancers.

Easy Portable DIY Sprung Floor System

By installing the top layer of this system locally, this floor will save money over traditional dance sprung floors. Another great value of this flooring option is the panelized nature of the product and its ability to be disassembled as needed, when a studio moves or changes location over time. Unlike most other dance sprung flooring systems on the market, this panelized system can easily be taken apart with no degradation to the flooring panels, and re-assembled in a different location. This unique feature adds great value to this floor over time.

During the DIY installation, flooring installers will need to purchase locally and install the top layer of 1/2 inch MDF or similar to complete this floor, prior to installing Rosco marley dance flooring as the finished top dance floor surface.

It is flexible enough to absorb the energy from a dancer's impact but provides the right amount of resistance for dance movements ranging from ballet to tap and including folk, modern, flamenco and Irish dancing.

Most users will be able to install this sprung floor on their own. The 42 x 42 inch (3.5 x 3.5 ft.) panels spoon into each other with the unique Wavelock design.

An integral part of this system is the 4.5-inch diameter closed cell foam pads. These 1-inch thick pads are affixed at specific locations on the underside of each subfloor panel. This, combined with the Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) construction of the panel, utilizing our patented Wavelock technology, yields superb resilience and dimensional stability. The foam pads, combined with the unique Wavelock backbone, provide unmatched resilience and stability.

The Sprung Dance SubFloor DIY Customize can be cut to fit wall-to-wall installations.

Please Note: Finished vinyl marley dance flooring is required on top of the ROSCO sprung floor panels.

Please review the Rosco Subfloor installation instructions. Please call customer service if you have any questions about installation.

Customer Rating: 5 Stars - Sprung Dance SubFloor DIY Customize 1.5 Inch x 3.5 x 3.5 Ft.

The DIY panels were easy to work with. The template made it easy to align the foam circles. Sometimes the adhesive wanted to peel off with the protective layer -- a quick pull tended to work best! I thought the instructions could have been more clear about where they recommend screwing the mdf. We probably overdid it on number of screws but it feels great. We didn't countersink the screws; we did use a sink collar to stop the depth at the same point consistently.

Customer Rating: 5 Stars - Sprung Dance SubFloor DIY Customize 1.5 Inch x 3.5 x 3.5 Ft.

I had a customer looking for a sprung dance floor. I found Greatmats on the internet and called them for assistance. Angie, my service rep was extremely helpful in helping me to narrow down my choices and explain the product installation. She even provided me with an accurate count of panels and Adagio flooring layout. I would highly recommend Greatmats for their product selection and very competent and accessible service reps. Everything from selection, ordering, communication, delivery and support was textbook. I couldn't be happier with the process.

We settled on a Roscoe sprung floor with a Marley Adagio surface. I choose the Subfloor DYI floor panels and opted for 4x8 sheets of mdf to complete the install because the floor was going to be a permanent installation. The 3.5'x3.5' Subfloor was incredibly easy to install and the template for foam circle placement made it simple and fast. Using 4x8 sheets was more economical than using the more mobile full panel method. This also allowed me to securely screw the 4x8 sheets to the DYI panels. I also lightly sanded all the joints. Filling the screw holes and sanding them was a bit time consuming, but well worth it so the screw holes would not telegraph through the Adagio surface. (super important where looks are as important as function) It made for a completely flat surface with no joint lippage. Taping the joints was easily achieved with 2 installers.
