Styles of Cheerleading Mats

For Team Practice & Competitions

Greatmats offers a complete line of pro-quality 6'x42' cheerleading tumbling mats for sale for All-Star Teams and competitions. Our products are designed for professional, high school, and university floors. These are found in 1-3/8 and 2 inch thicknesses and designed for years of use and come with a 3-year limited warranty.

These 6'x42' rolls are precision cut with a water jet. This helps to ensure they are perfectly square and will lay side-by-side with no gaps. This product features a flexible, easy rollout design. Multiple rollout mats can be connected using Velcro strips.

For Home Practice

The durable 1-3/8 Inch x 4x8 Ft. folding gym mat is an excellent option for the cheerleader practicing at home, especially if the athlete participates in other sports, such as gymnastics or martial arts.

Our rollout carpet topped cheer mats measure 5x10 ft and are another great choice for home use. These are made of the same durable and high-end materials as our pro models, making for the same feel underfoot, whether at practice or in competition. They are the ideal size for baseline or sideline setup.

Create full sized floors by simply unrolling multiple sections side-by-side. Push them together until they butt up next to each other. Then unroll the connect strips, hook side down along the seams.

Safety Consideration for Cheer Floors

Fall height should always be a consideration when choosing which form of matting is ideal for cheerleader training and competitions, we have an excellent selection of competition landing mats. As a general rule, the thicker the matting, the more shock absorption and fall protection it will provide.

For basic workouts with fall heights of 4 feet or less, those with a thickness of between 1-3/8 and 2 inches are the standard choice.

If working on drills and learning new skills, vinyl covered crash or landing pads are a better option. Crash pads are not as firm as others and are therefore not intended for stunting, however. Both options are generally used when there is a risk of falling from less than 6.5 feet. However, additional protection for greater heights can be achieved by layering landing padding over foam-matted flooring.

Add to the training arsenal with our inclines and wedges or octagons. Both are carried in multiple sizes.

Cheer Mats Q&A

How long is a tumbling mat?
For a full tumbler run, a 42 ft. cheer mat is recommended. We have the Flexi Roll, which measures 42’ by 6’. Rolling these up for storage is a piece of cake. Tape many of them together for a full size performance site.

How much do cheerleading mats cost?
It really depends on the planned use cases. Tumblers need a different type of material than someone working on jumps. Expect to pay anywhere from $2.50 to $6 per square foot for these units, providing customers with an excellent value for such a high end product. Here are our Top 5 Cheer Mats on a Budget.

What is the best cheer competition mat size?
Often times, coaches or meet organizers will tape or use Velcro to connect sections together to create a large section that’s 42’ square. Customers often start with the 42x6 foot sections that we have, taping seven of them for the 42’ by 42’ space.

What are cheer mats made of?
Our mats have a durable, needle punched, commercial quality carpet top. Where certain manufacturers use glue to attach the carpeted top to the foams, the carpeting on ours is flame laminated to cross-linked polyethylene foam to guarantee durable, long-lasting protection for your athletes. This ensures that the bond won't begin to fail with use. Ours won't come apart. All come with a three-year warranty against manufacturer defects.

How do you clean cheer mats?
To add to the lifespan of the floor by vacuuming them regularly. On occurrences where they are extra dirty, a light mopping with water should suffice. Avoid using any powerful cleaning agents, as these can damage the product. Some can be steam cleaned on an annual basis as a part of regular maintenance.
