With the surface of these tiles resembling sand, they deliver increased traction. This helps employees and visitors using the area to reduce the possibility of slip and fall accidents on wet floors.

Easy Installation of Interlocking Grit Tiles

Because each tile measures only 18 by 18 inches in size and weighs only 5.2 pounds, installation does not require special equipment. A single person is able to handle the installation process. You do not need messy glue or adhesive to complete the job.

Each tile uses a positive interlocking system on the edges, which ensures a tight fit between the tiles. They will not pull loose when placed under stress. Yet, when the customer wants to remove the flooring and return to the exposed subfloor, it is easy to pull the tiles apart and place them in storage.

Should the installer need to cut these mats to fit around permanent obstacles or to line up against a wall, using a straightedge and utility knife should make the job relatively easy. It may require multiple cuts to work through the 7/8-inch thickness of the material.

When cutting these grit tiles, only make cuts every three inches along the length or width of the tile to protect the interlocking system, so the partial tiles will connect properly to the remainder of the flooring.

Quick Draining Mats in Areas of Spills

In commercial workspaces where liquids are frequently in use, spills may occur. On a normal, non-perforated style of flooring, these spills would remain in place until someone cleans them. Employees may have to stand in puddles while they work.

This creates an uncomfortable setting for employees to do their jobs. Wet shoes can leave employees with cold feet and can create a dangerous area where slips may occur.

By installing our high traction flooring in these areas of the factory or commercial building, employers show their employees that they are concerned about the employees’ well-being and safety.

Additionally, the square-shaped perforations allow the liquid spills to drain away quickly. Any moisture left behind on the surface of the tiles will be minimal. This eliminates the chances of employees having to stand in puddles for long periods of time during a work shift.

When using these mats in areas that primarily involve working with dry solids, the perforations still remain useful. Powdery materials and small particles will fall through the large perforations to the subfloor, which means employees can wait to clean these spills until the end of the workday.

For those locations where people will be walking regularly and installers want to limit the impact of the lip of the tiles, ramped safety borders are available as an add-on purchase.

These yellow borders create a gradual ramp-up to the edge of the layout of the tiles. This reduces the chances of a trip hazard for employees.

Maintenance and Care

To maintain a high level of texture and traction on these grit tiles, it is important to clean them regularly based on the recommendations of the manufacturer.

Cleaning these tiles does not require much time, so the process works well for busy businesses and commercial locations. Start by cleaning the mats every one to three days to remove dust and other dry debris. If the rough, gritty surface is difficult to clean with a broom, customers can vacuum the surface.

Some customers choose to wash the surface of these 18x18 mats with water and a pressure hose at a setting of less than 500 psi. The manufacturer does not recommend using a steam cleaner on these mats. Do not machine wash them either. Customers can mop the tiles with a mild detergent and warm water if desired.

Because these tiles have perforated holes that extend through the entire 7/8-inch thickness of the PVC plastic, it is important to clean both sides of the mat. Soils could cling to the back side of the mat after they move through the drainage holes.

Do not use a machine to dry the mat. Use a stand to hold the mat vertically, so both sides can air dry at the same time.
