are versatile, durable, and suitable for many different purposes, making them popular options for homes, gyms, work areas, and more. At Greatmats, we offer a wide selection of anti-fatigue rubber mat rubbers, rolled rubber matting, athletic mats, and more, with options suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. With our excellent inventory, we have rubber matting products that can accommodate virtually any flooring project.

Benefits of Rubber Mats

Rubber is a popular option for many different projects and installations. When you consider the benefits that rubber offers, it's easy to see why.

  • Rubber mats are made from some of the most durable and renewable materials available today, giving them long lifespans.
  • Rubber matting and flooring is eco-friendly; most of our mats are made from recycled car and truck tires, which helps to keep millions of pounds of waste out of landfills. It's a great way to go green with any project.
  • Rubber is highly resistant to nearly all forms of weather and natural elements. It can withstand serious temperature extremes, and is a durable outdoor flooring option.
  • Rubber is also strong; these mats can support significant weight without sustaining damage, unlike other flooring options.
  • Rubber provides great shock absorption. It can absorb the impact of dropped gym weights, or can help cushion your feet during long hours of work.
Rubber is highly economical. We offer mats at a variety of different price points, so there's something to work with any budget.
We've highlighted a few of the different rubber matting options to help you get started.

Largest Rubber Mat Options

When you need flooring that will cover a larger area, our large rubber floor mats are the best option. A large rubber floor mat creates a floor with fewer seams than smaller floor tiles create, making large mats a popular choice for commercial or residential spaces. Smaller mats or floor tiles are a better choice for tight spaces, since they're easier to maneuver and less product will be wasted. Large mats are usually a more economical option for commercial projects, but it's important to remember that large mats are also heavier. You will likely need multiple people to help with the installation.

Rolled rubber is our largest mat option; rolls are four feet wide and available in lengths up to 50 feet. Most of our non-rolled large mats measure around 4x6 feet in size. Our large mats have straight edges that allow them to be installed against walls or against other mats. Smaller mats are often available with interlocking edges to fasten the mats together.

Thickest Rubber Mat Options

The thickness of a mat directly relates to its ability to absorb shock - and to protect your subfloor in the process. A thick rubber mat offers more protection and shock absorption, while thinner mats don't have the same properties. Thick rubber mats are often used to protect subfloors in gym weightlifting areas. They're also used beneath heavy workout equipment, or underneath playground equipment. If you're looking for thick rubber flooring mats for a playground installation, we recommend mats that are at least 2 inches thick in order to provide optimum protection.

Our Blue Sky Slide Mats measure 2.25 inches thick, and are one of our thickest rubber mat options. This thick rubber mat offers excellent cushion, and at a convenient 2x4-foot size, it's perfectly sized for playground use. These mats help to prevent wear in the footing of areas that see heavy traffic, such as at the bases of slides.

Our playground mats measure 1.5 inches thick, and are 3x3 feet in size. They're also designed to be placed in high-traffic areas, like underneath see saws or swings, or at the base of a slide. The mats offer additional shock absorption and help to keep the main footing from being quickly eroded.

Looking for something a little thinner? We have a number of rubber floor mats that measure just under 1 inch thick, offering shock absorption and protection without the added bulk.

Rubber Industrial and Fatigue Mats

Industrial large rubber mats can improve comfort and relieve fatigue for anyone who needs to spend long hours on their feet. These mats are particularly beneficial for high-traffic spaces, since the rubber material is firmer and more durable than plastic or foam anti-fatigue products. These mats can transform a hard concrete floor into a safer, more comfortable space.

Many industrial environments have harsh elements, such as grease and oil, but many of our industrial mats are made to withstand those very elements that would damage other mats. You'll find that we offer mats that are resistant to grease, and that are designed to prevent slipping to improve employee safety. Other mats are designed to withstand welding sparks or even to control static electricity for electrically sensitive environments.

If you need mats for wet environments, our perforated mats help to keep employees' feet dry and out of the water. The perforated mats let liquids run right through them, so the surface of the mats stays dry. Some mats have designs that help to further maximize traction, like grit incorporated into the mat's surface.

Forklifts and other heavy machinery can damage foam mats, but we have rubber mats designed specifically to withstand that significant weight and traffic. Some mats have a bright yellow edging to increase safety and visibility. Others have beveled edges to allow for easy accessibility with cart traffic. In addition to smaller individual mats, some of our anti-fatigue rubber/foam runners measure as long as 60 feet to quickly cover a warehouse floor.

Our anti-fatigue rubber matting is often used in standing work environments in industrial and manufacturing facilities. The mats are a great choice for anyone who must frequently stand on a hard surface.

Be sure to explore our wide variety of anti-fatigue mats to choose the best option for your facility. Rubber runners are available in custom sizes, and our mats are economical yet valuable in terms of the safety and comfort they offer. They can make any space a more pleasant environment for workers.

Rubber Athletic Mats

Rubber matting's extreme durability and strength makes it a popular choice for athletic applications. Many of our athletic mats measures 4x6 feet in size, and are available in thicknesses ranging from 1/4 to 1 inch. The mats are useful for gym areas that see high amounts of traffic, as well as for spaces that see significant impacts, like weight rooms.

Rubber is both strong and durable, so it offers excellent subfloor protection. Many gym owners opt to install rubber matting in weightlifting areas where free weights may be dropped. Some also place mats underneath heavy gym equipment to offer additional protection to the floor. Because rubber is dense, it won't be indented by this significant weight.

If you're looking for a durable flooring option that also offers more cushion, consider our plyometric rubber mats. Plyometric rubber still offers plenty of protection to your subfloor, but the composition of the rubber is a bit less dense than traditional rubber. As a result, plyometric mats have a little more give to them, making them a more comfortable flooring option.

Rubber Rooftop Mats

Mats for rooftops are designed to be placed directly over the rubber membrane of a commercial roof or outdoor patio. The mats, which come in both straight edge and interlocking modular tiles, do not require a glue-down installation. Most can be connected via connector clips, so installation is easy and even suitable as a DIY project. The mats can be easily cut to fit. Rubber tiles for outdoor use may even offer a fall height rating that makes for a safer flooring surface.

Rooftop mats are designed to be extremely resilient, even when exposed to the harshest weather conditions. They won't split or crack in the extreme cold, and they're heavy enough so that strong winds won't lift them up. The mats create a non-slip surface in all kinds of weather.

Rubber Playground Mats

Large mats for playgrounds are often glued down, which makes their outdoor installation more permanent and secure. Our fall-height-rated mats for playground areas offer shock absorption to help maximize the safety of children at play. The mats are available with fall height ratings ranging from 6 to 10 feet, so they're suitable for use with a variety of playgrounds and playground equipment.

Rubber Entrance Mats

Rubber mats for indoor and outdoor entrance spaces are highly durable, and are designed to offer great traction, even when they're wet. The mats can help to increase safety while also preventing sand, dirt, and debris from being tracked into a building. They can minimize your daily cleanup efforts, and are available in many designs and colors to suit your building's decor.

Installation of Rubber Mats

How to Cut Rubber Mats

  1. Using a pen, mark where you'd like to cut.
  2. Place a 2x4 board under the rubber mat at the cut line.
  3. Line up the straight edge along the line to be cut.
  4. Score along the straight edge with a sharp utility knife, allowing gravity to open the cut over the 2x4. Continue scoring until the cut goes all the way through the material.

Review the specific product instructions for installation.
