Safety Padding for Walls, Poles & Floors in Specialty Rooms

Wall padding intended for safety in specialty rooms, such as sensory rooms, seclusion rooms, or calm rooms, should have wood-backed lips that are securely fastened so they cannot be removed. It can also be matched with floor protection and sewn pads attached with grommets for doors.
  • Wall Pads and Mats: These attach to the wall securely and have a durable vinyl cover.
  • Pole and Beam Padding: Wrap these around any support posts or beams in the room.
  • Stage Matting: In a sensory room, stage padding can wrap around a lip or ledge, providing extra protection.
  • Folding Floor Mats: Use folding mats when you need a portable solution that you can move in and out of a room.
  • Puzzle Floor Mats: Interlocking puzzle mats can quickly result in a secure padded floor.

What to Look for in Protection Wall Padding

Greatmats gym wall pads often yield the best solutions for sensory room wall padding. They are designed specifically to endure punishing athletic environments where people exert enormous amounts of energy and force. The padding can even be custom-sized to cover odd-shaped areas, creating a low-maintenance padded wall option.
  • Protection: Quality safety wall padding, especially for special needs kids with autism, should yield plenty of shock absorption to avoid severe injury. Additionally, consider our padded wall panels that have no-skin-burn surfaces.
  • Durability: Door pads need to be designed with excellent longevity in mind to create a good value.
  • Ease of Installation: Secure it tightly during installation so that it cannot be removed or pulled up by a rambunctious child.
  • Low Maintenance: It should be non-absorbent and easy to clean to help save time and to ensure a healthy environment.
  • Custom Options: Whether giving customers solutions to fit around a window or finding a pad to fit on a certain-sized door, customization is important when maximizing the usefulness of the protective materials.

  • Walls: Our pads made for walls use a durable vinyl covering that’s available in almost any color, and they have up to 2 inches of interior foam for impact absorption.

Protective Wall Padding Q&A

What is a padded room called, and what is it used for?

Padded rooms go by many names, some of which are more clinical than others. In modern times, seclusion room is a common term. Protection is of paramount importance in seclusion room padding, giving the person a safe environment in which to calm down without fear of harm. We are proud to be able to offer the top-quality products needed for wall padding in these rooms. Other specialty rooms for autistic and special needs children use wall pads and floor protection; these can include bedrooms, de-escalation rooms, and multisensory rooms.

How do you attach a mat to a wall?

Two different installation methods for padded mats are available.
  • Lip: Features a 1-inch lip at the top and bottom. This lip allows for directly screwing them on or using a 1-by-1-inch furring strip to secure them.
  • Z-Clip: Z-Clip utilizes a channel connection method. The Z-Clips are attached to the back. The Z-Clips have included screws for attachment. The Z-Clips are pre-cut to length, and the safety padded walls for autism are pre-drilled to receive the screws, minimizing the amount of work required.

Can we install the safety padding ourselves?

Yes. We include the instructions required to simplify the process, making it a potential DIY project. Some customers choose to have a professional put up the seclusion room wall padding autism panels, which ensures a perfect fit.

Is time-out room padding fire retardant?

We offer seclusion room wall padding that is heat-protected in fires. Our smooth matte 18-ounce vinyl covering is Class A Flame Retardant. Additionally, it is highly durable and resistant to abrasion and mildew.

What are the best sensory room floor mats?

The best sensory room floor padding mats help children improve their fine motor skills and gross motor skills, all in a safe manner. Such mats also can contribute to a comfortable and calm environment when kids need a space that’s quiet and safe. The Greatmats customer service team can help you find the exact flooring for your sensory room needs.
