Fast and Lower Cost Shipping to Ohio, Wyoming, Arkansas, Minnesota, and In Between
Greatmats offers ground protection mats for both lawn and grass protection and access to muddy, swampy, or delicate areas. These options are stocked in the Midwest for quick and affordable shipping to customers located in North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Michigan, Colorado, Ohio, Nebraska, Indiana, Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas, Iowa, and Missouri.
When you’re operating in an area where heavy vehicles will be traveling across grass or muddy fields, ground protection mats will provide a durable layer over the soft surfaces. Heavy equipment can tear up a lawn in a hurry if you don’t have some sort of protection for the ground.
Because these heavy-duty plastic mats are large and awkward to carry, they can have a high shipping cost. You don’t want to pay so much in shipping that you’ll create a prohibitive cost for the temporary roadway mat product.
That’s why Greatmats has warehouses across the United States. We can cut down on the cost of shipping and shipping time by placing our warehouses and products closer to the customers. From our Midwest warehouse, we can offer better shipping options to 15 states, including:
- Arkansas
- Colorado
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- South Dakota
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
Ground protection mats are available in a variety of configurations. These are popular products for construction companies, schools, and other heavy equipment facilities in the Midwest because they allow large vehicles to safely enter areas affected by heavy rain. Here are some items to consider when shopping for ground protection mats:
Protection for vehicles. When you need to drive construction equipment, a bobcat, or a skid steer into an area that sometimes resembles a swamp because of mud and heavy rain, our ground protection mats will help you move the vehicles safely without getting stuck.
Rather than wasting time trying to pull a vehicle out of the mud, you can keep working, thanks to the ground mat. The temporary plastic road also prevents mud from covering the vehicles, keeping them cleaner and in top working condition.
Protection for people. If you will be giving tours to potential investors, clients, or renters during a building construction project, using ground protection mats allows people to walk through the site without having to navigate a muddy or heavily rutted area.
Because these visitors to the site may be dressed in business attire, they may not have footwear that’s appropriate for a construction site. These plastic mats keep mud away from visitors.
Protection for finished surfaces. At a school, the maintenance staff may choose to lay these mats across a track surface. This allows field maintenance equipment to access the field in the center of the oval track without damaging the expensive track surface.
When you need to create coverage to allow people or vehicles to travel across a manicured grass area, these mats are a great choice, especially those that have a transparent plastic design. With the transparent design, sunlight can pass through the plastic, reaching the grass and keeping it alive for a few extra days until you can remove the mats.
Coverage size. When purchasing these mats, think about the coverage you need. Larger tiles may have a size of 4 by 8 feet, which means they cover more area. But they can also weigh 80 or more pounds, so they can be difficult to move into place.
We offer some small and lightweight pieces that are great for quick setups, such as when you may need to move a vehicle across a dirt or grass area once. In a case like this, you’ll want mats that are easy to assemble and disassemble. Some of our smallest ground mats measure just 2 feet by 4 feet, roughly. We also have 2-by-6-foot mats that weigh around 33 pounds.
Pick a mat width that matches the types of vehicles you’ll be driving on the mat, so you aren’t creating an extremely wide mat that you don’t need. A Bobcat needs a different width of protection mat than a dump truck, for example.
Type of connection. You can connect several mats to create a long roadway.
Different types of connection options are available, depending on the needs you have for the installation. Commonly, heavy-duty mats made to fit over dirt or grass will use a pin-and-clip system. Just line up the holes at the edges of the mats and slide pins into them to hold the mats together.
For a connection option where you don’t want to risk a pin damaging the ground underneath the mats, you can use a flat-style connector.
Surface texture. You can pick between a smooth surface and a cleated surface on the mat. Cleated surfaces cost a bit more, but they also give the vehicle a little bit of traction as it travels across the mats.
Understand that even a smooth-surfaced plastic mat will give you better traction in muddy areas. They also allow vehicles to turn more easily on top of them. Put the smooth side down for maximum protection of concrete, pavement, or other delicate surfaces.
