A revolutionary interlocking rubber floor tile. ZipTile Interlocking Rubber 3/8 Inch Black are engineered so precisely that the intricate interlocking pattern nearly disappears as the tiles are installed. The result is the appearance of a monolithic surface accomplished with the ease of installing interlocking tiles.
This mat makes use of slots and tabs around the perimeter, creating a tight fit in the final layout that will look great. The seams basically disappear after connecting all the tiles.
Size and Shape Options
Each tile has dimensions of 28 by 28 inches. However, the interlocking edges on these tiles reduce the coverage that customers will expect to receive. With these dimensions, you should have about 5.64 square feet per tile, but the interlock loss is about 0.03 square feet.
This ZipTile model measures 3/8 inches in thickness. This creates the best mixture of a flexible tile, which simplifies installation, and a durable tile. The manufacturer offers a 5-year limited warranty with this installation.
Material Options
ZipTile models consist of 100% recycled rubber material.
The manufacturer uses a specially engineered polymer binder to ensure the recycled rubber crumbs stay together, even when the floor receives exposure to stress and rough treatment, which can happen during workouts. This polymer is similar to what’s found with asphalt running tracks.
The manufacturer only uses extremely fine rubber granules in the construction of the ZipTile product. This gives the tiles a comfortable feel for athletes as they are undergoing workouts, helping to protect their lower body joints from pain and injury.
Additionally, this type of tile has sound and shock absorption capabilities. This is an important aspect of flooring that you plan to use in a workout space. Exercise machines and weights can become noisy while they are in use, which can disturb other people in the home.
The manufacturing process involved with ZipTile ensures that the strong odor that commonly appears with rubber flooring is not present. This odor is similar to a rotten egg smell or a new car smell, and some people have a significant issue with it. The ZipTiles do not have this type of odor.
Pattern and Texture Options
ZipTile offers these tiles in an all-black color. Black is the most common color found with rubber tiles.
By installing a black tile, the seams between the tiles in the final layout will almost disappear from view. This results in a more pleasant final design.
Because rubber gives athletes excellent traction as they are working out and exercising, there is no need to add a molded texture pattern to the surface of the tile to create better traction.
Common Use Options
Because rubber naturally has slip resistance, it’s ideal for workout spaces where athletes cannot afford to lose their footing while lifting weights or when needing leverage.
Additionally, the rubber does not absorb moisture, which means it will work in areas where dampness frequently appears. For example, you can create a home gym in a garage or basement, where moisture is present from dripping cars or from seepage through foundation blocks.
Installers also will place ZipTiles in areas where a highly durable flooring is important. Industrial areas and factories may install these tiles along an assembly line or in areas where people will be standing and working.
Installation Options
To install these tiles, start by cleaning the subfloor thoroughly. Repair any holes or major imperfections in the floor. Our rubber flooring will work for an installation over concrete, wood, tile, or asphalt subfloors.
Line up the tabs and slots on adjacent tiles to begin the installation process. Once they are in alignment, press them together to lock the tiles tightly.
Maintenance
Use a neutral Ph cleaner on all rubber flooring material.

We put this flooring in our ~340 sq ft home gym. Took the majority of a weekend for my husband to install (he is exceptionally detail-oriented though). The non-universal pattern makes install really tricky when it comes to edges - I'd definitely recommend ordering a little extra All said and done, it looks great and the seams fit very tightly. We spent way too long trying to find the right flooring, but are very happy with the ZipTile!
