Common Uses for Food Service Anti Fatigue Mats

Many customers will select these mats for use in restaurant kitchens and in food prep areas. Whenever people are working with food and cooking ingredients, there’s a chance for spills. Rather than creating a slippery space on the floor from these spills, our mats will give employees a safe space to stand and work.

In a school kitchen or cafeteria-style serving area, laying a few of these 3x8-foot mats end to end creates a long area with protection from slips when spills occur. Servers can move back and forth along the serving area without ever leaving the surface of the food service anti fatigue mats.

Some buffet-style restaurants may choose to lay these black rectangular mats along the length of the self-service area. Customers are almost certainly going to spill food or sauces on the floor as they use the buffet stations. Our mats will keep them from slipping and causing liability for the restaurant.

Highly Durable PVC Foam Mats

These are professional grade foam mats that will deliver many of the same benefits of rubber in terms of durability. By using foam, though, the manufacturer assures that the mats will have outstanding cushioning for a whole day of standing and working.

SuperFoam is a specialty blend of PVC foam and nitrile foam in a closed cell design. This mixture ensures the foam will not soak up liquids, which helps the material maintain its integrity in highly damp environments, such as kitchens and dishwashing areas.

Even when exposed regularly to oils, greases, and animal fats, these foam mats will maintain their integrity.

This foam blend isn’t quite as durable as a rubber mat would be, but it provides a higher level of cushioning than rubber. It also has a lighter weight than what’s found with rubber, as our foam blend weighs less than 1 pound per square foot of coverage. Customers can move these mats easily.

The foam material is abrasion resistant as well, meaning if the employees drop dishes or silverware onto the mats, these items rarely will scratch or gouge the foam blend. The mats will continue to look great in customer-facing areas.

For those who need a size other than 3 by 8 feet, these SuperFoam mats are available in a wide range of rectangular sizes. The same material also appears in a roll format to use with extremely long preparation stations or factory lines.

Maintenance and Care

These are popular food service anti fatigue mats in part because of how easy they are to clean.

Start by sweeping the mats with a push broom or a stiff-bristled broom to loosen and move dry debris.

For a more extensive cleaning process, businesses can scrub the mats using a detergent with a natural pH balance or a degreaser without butyl. Use of a cleaner with bleach or other harsh chemicals could shorten the lifespan of the mats.

Wash these mats with a high-pressure hose, if desired, but it must remain under 500 psi in pressure.

These mats should hang and drip dry after the cleaning process before laying them down again. Clean the floor underneath the mats at the same time, so that the mats will maintain their grip on the subfloor.

Maintenance

Sweep regularly or dry mop the surface and the back of the mat. The surface can be damp-mopped with a mild soap/detergent.
