Just follow a few important tips with these Flexi-Connect mats for installation at a school, home, gymnastics studio, cheerleading studio, or fitness center.
How to Install Connecting Cheer Mats
Before you install connecting cheer mats from Greatmats, make certain you have proper supervision for students and that you have plenty of free space around the mats. You should not use this mat alone as a landing mat for stunt practice.
Follow these tips when you are ready to install the connecting cheer mats.
- Select the edge on the roll of the mat that does not have a connecting flap. Place this edge at the starting corner and unroll the mat, taking care to keep it squared up.
- Place the adjacent roll on top of the starting roll, allowing the adjacent roll to cover two or three inches of the starting roll’s skive side. Following this process makes it easier to connect the Velcro or hook-and-loop connectors properly.
- Move the adjacent roll until the starting roll’s flap nests in the skive section.
- Ensure that the two rolls have no visible gap or any overhang of the flap.
- Press the flap into the loop side of the hook-and-loop connector, ensuring everything is flush and aligned.
- If you see any gaps or overhanging flaps after installation, pull the pieces apart. Realign the mats and connect them again.
- Repeat the process for each additional roll to ensure a proper installation of the connecting cheer mats.
- You should not see visible seams or gaps after the installation and as students use the flooring and put it under stress.
How to Store Connecting Cheer Mats
If you ever need to disassemble and store these connecting cheer mats, follow these tips.
- Always roll up these mats by hand.
- Separate the hook-and-loop seams on the mats by hand as you’re rolling them up.
- Never pull on the sides or corners of the roll to try to disconnect them.
- Never store or use the mats outdoors.
- Do not store or use the mats in areas with direct sunlight.
- Store the mat carefully, as the exposed foam side could suffer damage and punctures from sharp objects.
- Keep the flaps aligned upward and away from other objects when storing the rolls, as constant weight or pressure on the flaps in storage could damage them.
- Place the mat upright for storage on a flat surface.
How to Maintain Connecting Cheer Mats
Following proper techniques to clean, sanitize, and maintain these connecting cheer mats will ensure the greatest lifespan from them.
- Clean the vinyl covering on the mats regularly to keep them in the best condition.
- Using disinfectants on the mats will prevent skin infections.
- Never use cleaners that contain bleach to disinfect the mats. This will damage the vinyl and void the warranty.
- Our customer service team has a list of approved disinfectant cleaners, or the care instructions that shipped with the mat may list approved cleaners.
