Step-by-Step Installation Instructions for Home Gym Mats Pebble Tiles

By Brett Hart // 2017

Greatmats Home Gym Mats Pebble 10 mm tiles are popular for home gyms and basement flooring. The high density EVA foam tiles are economical, simple to install and durable enough for use under exercise equipment.

These pebble textured and no tools are necessary for island installations. Each puzzle tile is equipped with two removable border strips - one with a corner end and one without.

Start in a corner, leaving both border strips in place. As you work your way out from the corner, remove border strips as needed. If you are working along a wall or outside edge of your island, you may leave the non-corner border strips in place. Push the tiles into place like connecting a non-directional jigsaw puzzle. For center tiles, both border strips should be removed. If you accidently remove border strips on your edge tiles, no problem. Simply push them back into place to complete your home gym floor.

Add your exercise equipment on top and you're good to go!

For wall-to-wall installations, be sure to leave at least a 1/4 inch gap for expansion. These tiles can also be cut to fit using a sharp utility knife.

The home gym flooring is a perfect solution to add comfort and style to your concrete basement or garage gym floor. Not only do the offer some comfort without being too squishy, they also insulate well against the cold concrete, making a nice temperature stable flooring surface on which you can both lift weights and do floor exercises. Keep in mind that at this thickness, it will provide limited protection against dropped weights. (If your intention is to drop weights frequently, a 3/4 inch thick or thicker rubber gym mat is recommended.) But this will protect against incidentally dropping for mid to lighweight dumbbells and controlled setting down of other heavy weights.

You'll also notice a significant reduction of clanking as your metal weights come in contact with the floor when this home gym flooring system is in place.
