Learn how to perform an open guard pass from 7-time world champion Rodrigo Comprido and 4th-degree black belt Marcelo Cazuza.

''Hi. I'm Rodrigo Comprido. That's Marcelo Cazuza. We are here for the Greatmats Series and I'm going to show you an open guard pass.
I'm positioned in the open guard of my opponent. The moment he tries to roll his leg for the lasso, I also roll my hand outside. I should be able to do this faster than him. I have to cover a much smaller area than him.

Once I get my hand outside, I don't really have to get a grip, but I can. I can just position my hand outside. I keep forcing his opposite leg to the floor. I'm going to stand up for a little bit and move to my left, and now I pull his leg to the floor, put my knee above his leg and I start to smash him.

It will be easy now to break his grip, so I control his hip. I come with this hand and I start to control his back.

I start to put pressure with my head into his chest. and with this hand, I will control his bottom leg.

So I control his back, my head on his shoulder. My hand now moves to his bottom leg. I go up on my toes and I push forward, keep stretching his bottom leg and pass his guard.''
