Record-setting Open Weight Blackbelt World Jiu-Jitsu Champion Rodrigo ''Comprido'' and training partner Marcelo ''Cazuza'' Kropotkin show you how to pass the guard from inside the triangle as part of Greatmats 12-part BJJ training Series.

''Hi. I'm Rodrigo Comprido and that's Marcelo Cazuza. We are here for the Greatmats Series. What I'm going to show you guys now is passing the guard, starting inside the triangle.

I will have to prevent his action. Prevent is always better than defend.

The moment I feel that he's coming and attacking the triangle, I will rotate my shoulder so it's outside his legs. So I rotate, instead of allowing his leg to hook over my shoulder. I will rotate and I create some space. And I keep creating this space.

Now I'm going to start going up in phases. I'm sitting on my heels and now I'm going to stretch my legs. With the front hand, I'm going to control his belt or his pants and I close my elbow.

I keep looking up the entire time. This helps me to keep my back in the straight position. So I keep looking up.

Now, I lift my outside leg on the same side I'm opening my shoulder. And I'm still controlling here.

Look up and stand up straight. Stretch your back, and when he opens his leg, I will do a short leg drag, just switching his leg to the other side of my body.

Instead of doing a lousy leg drag, I'm just going to adjust a little bit sideways and drop my weight on him. Smash his knee and pass his guard.''
