Sporting a new venue and new paperless scoring system, the American Kyuki-Do Federation's 2018 Summer Tournament of Champions saw a 13 percent increase in competitors over the previous year. The AKF summer tournament, which has been traditionally held in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, moved to the Lunda Center in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, for the 2018 event, which received an overwhelmingly positive response.

Of the 144 competitors ages 3 to 64, AKF Martial Arts Academy of Eau Claire, Wisc., produced 28 competitors while the New Richmond, Wisc., AKF academy followed with 23 participants.
Taking top overall honors in the 17 and under black belt division was grand champion Aleks Harima of Crystal Lake, Illinois, while Chris Panteleo of Janesville, WI was the 18 and over black belt grand champion.

Always striving to improve the experience, the federation held a academy owners' round table immediately following the tournament.
