FEBRUARY 6, 2017 - The 12th Annual Rumble In The Redwoods Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament is coming to De Anza College in Cupertino, California on Feb. 11. More than 200 athletes, representing all ages and levels, from the California Bay Area are set to compete.

The Greatmats-sponsored event, presented by Chris Smith of Tiger Martial Arts, will feature a super fight between Kristina Barlaan and Bethany Shulze.
Barlaan is a light-featherweight black belt under Caio Terra and reigning European Open Champion. Barlaan is also a 4-time PanAmerican Champion, 4-time American National Champion and 4-time American National No-Gi Champion.

Schulze, a graduate student at California State University-Monterey Bay, is a black belt under Professor Chris Smith of Tiger Martial Arts.
Barlaan and Schulze last faced at the same event in 2015 as brown belts.

Doors open for the single elimination tournament at 8:30 a.m. Competition begins at 9:30 a.m. and runs until approximately 4 p.m., starting with kids and working up to adult colored belts. Spectator admission is $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and kids 12 and younger. Ages 5 and younger are free.
