Officer Jason Brodt is the head dog trainer for the St. Paul Police department. His dedication to dog training led the department's 60-year-old K-9 Unit to be named the Top Department team at the U.S. Police Canine Patrol Dog Trials recently in Alabama.

Brodt is responsible for 20 police department dogs.

Brodt and his colleagues train the dogs to locate articles based on specific human odors and apprehend decoy criminals in addition to standing obedience and agility.

In the field, the St. Paul Police Department K-9 Units respond to thousands of situations each year, including approximately 4,000 in 2016.
