Outdoor Floor Tile Durability Test vs Baseball Bat Impact

Date Published: 08-12 - 2022

If you've ever wondered how impact resistant outdoor floor tiles are, you're in for a treat. In this video, we took three of our most popular 1x1 foot outdoor tiles and tested them to see how they would handle the impact of a baseball bat. We braced each of the tiles on two ends and left the middle unsupported. While we don't expect anyone to use the tiles in this manner :-), it does give an indication of just how tough the tiles can be.
The 3 products tested were Greatmats':
Staylock Tile Perforated: https://www.greatmats.com/tiles/decking-tiles.php
Portable Outdoor and Tent Tile: https://www.greatmats.com/portable-floor/portable-floor-outdoor-tent-tile.php
& Perforated Garage Tile: https://www.greatmats.com/garage-floor-tile/perforated-flow-drain-garage-tile.php
The Staylock tile, made of a flexible PVC material was unaffected by the impact of the bat.
The Portable Outdoor and Tent tile, made of a rugged polypropylene plastic material withstood 5 solid hits before developing some minor cracks around the connector pieces.
The Perforated Garage Tile, also made of polypropylene, did suffer significant cracking upon impact from the bat.
Watch for yourself to see the impact test.
