Coach Mary at Northwoods Gymnastics tells about how they use panel mats to help with beam progression. They stack panel mats under the balance beam to raise it off the floor for those working up to the full height of the balance beam.
You can stack one mat under each side and work your way up higher to what the student is comfortable with.
