My name is Rodrigo Leite de Medeiros, but my friends know me as Comprido.

I've been training in jiu jitsu since I was 16 years old and I don't want to tell you how old I am now, but I'm very old.

I spent a lot of time inside the mats, became world champion first time as a blue belt and eventually became 2-time absolute world champion as a black belt.

I have the record of the fastest submission in a black belt final. I've been using Greatmats for like 6 years. One thing I like is that the mats are very firm. It doesn't matter if I'm close to the seam or in the center of the mat, my foot doesn't sink. That's helped me a lot. That's safety for my students. So that's one of the factors I always like.

On top of that, the cushion is nice. You don't get hurt when you do takedowns, but on the other hand, your foot doesn't get stuck in there.

If your foot sinks into the mat that's not good. Your foot will twist. I'm not in the business to hurt people. I'm in the business of teaching jiu jitsu. I don't want to have to worry if my student's going to get hurt on the mats.

That's why I think it's very important for the mats to be firm and make you stable where you can shoot any time you want to. You can trust that your leg's going to be in the right position, that your foot is going to be in the right position and you're not going to sink in.

At the same time, when somebody puts you down, the pressure of the takedown, the power of the takedown will be absorbed by the mat.
