Use StayLock Tile Smooth Top Black 9/16 Inch x 1x1 Ft. as an underlayment to provide a smooth, flat surface over concrete or carpet. Made of soft flexible PVC plastic material, this product also offers anti fatigue cushioning. This raised underlayment tile is placed over the subfloor and helps with sound deadening, softening the feel of the floor underfoot, and acting as a moisture barrier. This tile works well in damp, wet areas because of the raised base, which allows air to flow underneath to dry the floor. No need to remove the tiles to dry the area.

If using these as an underlayment for a flood-prone basement, consider installing your choice of carpet tiles in a semi-permanent way with double-sided tape over the top. In case of a flood, the carpet can be removed and dried out if necessary. Also, consider throwing a comfortable, plush rug over the top to make a more comfortable playroom or family room.

You could also install interlocking foam tiles over the top of these. This is a great solution to create a fun playroom but not be worried about moisture getting trapped under the foam tiles.

Easy to install, these interlocking tiles are a great DIY project product. They can be easily cut using a sharp utility knife. Optional borders are also available for a finished edge.

Disclaimer: These tiles do feature subtle indents on the surface in the corners of the tiles. These will not affect the performance of the tile. Please note that these tiles will indent under heavy furniture because they are soft. Furniture coasters can help with this issue. When installing these over carpet, the results may vary based on how plush and padded the carpet is. The Staylock tiles are better on low-pile carpeting. Also, use a piece of plywood underneath as you are connecting them to make installation easier.

Maintenance

Recommended cleaning: Use vinegar and baking soda and hot water to clean the family of Staylock floor tiles. Do not use any cleaning solutions that contain bleach.
