    The "hardness" of foam floor tiles is measured in a degree of Shore C, this relates to how hard or soft the foam floor tiles feel to the touch. We measure the hardness of foam flooring with a Hardness Measurement Tool. Our standard 2x2 foot x 5/8 inch foam floor tiles have a hardness measurement of 30 to 35 degrees. Our harder floor floor tiles feature a hardness of 60-65 degrees Shore C.


    For foam tiles the measurement of "density" is different than "hardness", however related. Density is a measurement of material mass and is a relationship of cubic meters or cubic feet in comparison to weight. For example 130kg/m3 - this means 130 kilograms per cubic meter, so density relates to how much material vs air is within the tiles, while hardness is how hard the mats will feel. The relationship between "hardness" and "density" is important because this can relate to the quality of the foam flooring tiles.


    Foam flooring tile sizes range from 1x1 foot and 2x2 foot tiles up to 1x1 meter foam floor tiles. As a general statement our larger foam flooring are designed for larger commercial installations and our smaller 2x2 foot foam flooring tiles are designed to accommodate residential applications. Our 2x2 foot foam tile can ship via ground service to your door via UPS or FedEx, while our 1x1 meter foam tiles will always ship on a pallet via freight delivery service.

To accommodate furniture we recommend using plastic coasters under the legs of furniture as heavy small legs from couches and chairs can leave indentations in foam floor tiles. For floors with in-floor heat the foam tiles will not inhibit the heat from migrating up into the room.

Simply layout the foam tiles and interlock the tiles together, easily cut the foam tiles to fit using a sharp utility knife for a wall to wall installation. Consider laying a board down on the ground, in order to not damage the floor below when cutting the foam flooring tiles. If the foam floor tiles start to fray when cutting, then its time to change your blade, a new blade should cut the foam like butter.
