We offer several playground surfaces solutions consisting of rubber surface tiles and interlocking rubber playground surface mats. We can help you choose the right flooring option for your playground whether outdoors or in. Playground surfaces are relatively easy to install. Most require a hard, level sub-surface such as concrete or compacted crushed stone. Surface options consist of modular soft plastic or rubber tiles.

Our rubber playground surface tiles measure 2 x 2 ft and are designed to provide consistent fall protection while providing water drainage. Playground surface solutions also work great on rooftops, decks, or any place you need durable protective surfacing. Our Staylock Perforated Tiles soft plastic playground surface tiles are popular with day cares centers as they are the only playground product we offer that can be installed directly over dirt, sand, or grass.

Installation types vary depending on the playground surfacing product you choose. Some rubber tiles interlock together and require adhesive at the interlock. With these, you can either opt to glue the product to the sub-surface or you can dry lay it. Other of our playground surface products connect together with pins or clips. These are optimal for situations where the playground is going to be moved somewhere in the future because they require no adhesive whatsoever.

Unlike other playground surface options such as rubber crumbs, wood chips, or sand, rubber tiles dont require raking or leveling to ensure that they maintain consistent fall height protection. As a general rule, playground surfaces tend to wear in some areas more than others (such as beneath swings or at the base of slides). With a clip or pin-together tile, replacing the worn tiles is easy. This isn't something you can do with a poured-in-place playground surface.

To determine the playground surface tile thickness that is necessary for your application, first determine the ''Fall Height'' (aka: drop height) for your play area. To do this, measure the height from the ground to the highest platform children stand on. This distance is your fall height. Once you have this information, you can select which rubber surfacing playground tile you need.

Our 2.5 inch thickness is our most popular product for both indoor and outdoor settings. When installed over concrete or asphalt, it provides a fall height rating of 6 ft. A thickness of 3.5 inch is needed for an 8 ft. fall-height and the 3.75 inch thickness is required for a 10 ft. fall-height. Our playground surface tiles come in an array of colors and shades. Available colors have been selected because they withstand the effects of sunshine the best and are less apt to fade.

The preferred sub-surface for your playground surface is concrete or asphalt but it is ok to install these playground tiles directly on top of compacted, crushed rock. You will need a stable, solid surface with enough of a grade to allow heavy rainfall to drain from the surface area. You do not want water to puddle beneath the tiles for extended periods of time as dips will begin to form in your surface area and the overall appearance will not be as attractive.

Because our playground systems provide a level and solid surface, they also provide wheelchair accessibility. One product in particular (Kid's Kushion) features an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Compliant Ramp (24x27 inch). These ramps have a 1:12 grade that exceeds the ADA minimum 1:16 grade slope. Transition pieces (ramps) are available in various thicknesses along with corner pieces. Please contact us with questions regarding your specific requirements.
