Porter Hill Engineered Hardwood Plank Flooring With Maple Finish

For a highly detailed style of flooring product that approximates vintage hardwood layouts, stick with our Maple Porter Hill Engineered Hardwood Plank Flooring. This floor looks amazing, providing the allure of a vintage hardwood maple floor.

The manufacturer did not miss a detail when creating these luxury plank flooring products. This design includes:
  • Hand staining
  • Multiple coats of stain applied
  • Multiple color variations within a single plank
  • Surface treatment to provide a realistic texture

Cost Effective Rustic Hardwood Floor

Versus an actual hardwood flooring that uses maple throughout the entire thickness of the plank, our design makes use of a 2 mm thick veneer layer that fits over the top of a 1/2 inch plywood base.

By including plywood in the design, this product has a price of less than $6 per square foot of coverage. This is far less than what customers would expect to pay for an all-maple plank flooring.

Additionally, by only using a thin veneer layer of the beautiful maple hardwood, our product design preserves this precious material for other use cases.

The maple layer fits across the entire surface of the plywood base, which hides the plywood from sight upon installation. Any visitors to the home, restaurant, or office building will believe they’re looking at a real hardwood layout.

To enhance the appearance of a real hardwood floor, the manufacturer applied the hand scraped and wire brushed texture on the veneer layer in a random pattern.

When paired with the random natural wood grain pattern in the planks, this design is ideal for those wanting to approximate the look of real hardwood floors.

Additionally, the veneer layer has a beveled edge, which is exactly the look expected from real plank flooring. Knots and filled checks are part of the maple veneer too.

The designer provided a wide range of color variations within the stain on each plank. Thanks to the use of multiple applications of the stain, both dark and light browns are part of the look.

The 7-1/2 inch wide measurement of each of these planks enhances the different color variations on the planks, giving this floor an impressive design.

How to Install Engineered Hardwood Planks

The installation process is relatively easy to perform with these planks. Those installers with even just a little bit of experience with home improvement projects should be able to handle the work on their own without needing to hire a professional.

With the tongue and groove edging, installers will find these engineered wood planks almost as easy to install as a laminate plank.

Just start in one corner of the room. Work across the width of the room. Upon reaching the far wall, the installer will need to cut a plank to fit.

The carton of planks does contain sizes of varying lengths between roughly 1 and 7 feet. This allows the installer to waste less flooring when having to cut the last plank in the row to fit.

Installers can select among a few different means of installing the planks. Many installers will choose the floating floor design. Just slide the tongue and groove edges of one plank into an adjacent plank.

If placing a floating floor over concrete or a wood subflooring, the manufacturer recommends laying out a vapor retarding barrier first.

Installers also have the option of using urethane-based glue, brad nails, or staples to attach the planks to the subfloor. Always follow the specific instructions that ship with the planks when using one of these methods.

These planks provide a high level of resilience for customers. They carry a limited 35-year manufacturer’s residential finish warranty and a limited lifetime manufacturer’s structural warranty.

Maintenance and Care

To clean this natural plank flooring with a maple veneer layer, simply remove dust and other debris at least once per week or more often, as needed. Use a dust mop or a broom for the best results.

Homeowners also can use a vacuum cleaner, if that’s easier. However, only use a vacuum that has a felt or brush attachment. A vacuum with a beater bar could cause damage to the natural wood finish.

For occasional cleaning methods to remove grime, do not use harsh floor cleaning products. Instead, stick to a wood floor cleaner.

Excessive water could cause stains on the veneer layer. Avoid mopping the planks with water alone. Should any spills or pet accidents occur on the flooring, try to clean them up as quickly as possible to prevent staining.

Maintenance

Sweep or dust mop your floor once a week or more with an approved floor cleaner. Spills, pet accidents, or tracked in dirt should be cleaned immediately. Never clean or wet mop with water, water may damage floor. Use a wood floor cleaner, do not use harsh abrasive cleaners.
