Customer Reviews For ground protection mat at Greatmats:
Most Common Product Questions For ground protection mat at Greatmats:
can it be placed over carpet and not slip?
This tile will work well installed directly over carpeting and will not slip.
Can this be used over hardwood floors without damaging the floor? Can you bounce a ball on them? Will they shift if not installed wall-to-wall?
Yes, this PVC floor tile can be installed over any hard flat surface and on any type of surface without any damage to the existing flooring. The tiles will not shift on their own therefore wall to wall installation in not required. You can bounce a basketball on this tile, however for an indoor court we recommend our Gym floor court tiles, made from hard plastic polypropylene.
If I install this over carpet and place an exercise bike on top will the carpet be ruined if I remove it ever?
No the carpet should be fine in most cases, the PVC tiles might indent into the carpet somewhat.
Does each case include the beveled edges shown in the pictures?
No, the case contains only tiles, the edging pieces are ordered separately as needed.
After I install this in a room or half of a room, is it easy to take it apart to move it?
This modular floor tile can be uninstalled, and reinstalled elsewhere. The ease of which may depend on the person. It would take about 15-30 seconds to separate one tile from another.
Hello, I was wondering, how well can these absorb the vibrations of treadmills, and heavy weights?
In the bumptop version, they will work well.
Would these tiles work as a mat for an office chair? If not, are there other tiles you'd recommend?
They PVC tiles are too soft for an office chair. I would recommend a chair mat.
Is the mat comfortable for doing situps and planks?
I would not recommend this mat for laying on it directly. Foam is better for that.
How does PVC hold up against cat and dog toenails?
It is fairly scratch resistant.
Is the orange peel tile slippery? I am looking for a surface to be able to do step aerobics and Zumba, but don’t want to slip while jumping off the step or doing turns!
This product has excellent traction for that.
Does this easily roll up for storage when not in use? Can it be installed as an island in my guest room so I don't have to put furniture on it? What would the weight be of an 8' x 8' island?
This is not a roll up mat. The 1x1 foot square tiles, however, can be easily removed and stacked for storage when not in use. Island installations are common with this flooring. You may also want to consider using ramped border strips should you choose to do an island installation. Each tile weighs 1.52 pounds and an 8x8 foot island would require 64 tiles, equaling about 98 pounds without the borders strips.
