Customer Reviews For composite flooring at Greatmats:
Most Common Product Questions For composite flooring at Greatmats:
Hello. I am interested in purchasing these tiles to lay over an old, vinyl tiled basement floor. Can these garage tiles be used on a basement floor, and do they require any type of underlayment? Thank you! - Jessica Vera
Yes the tiles can be installed in a basement floor, or any hard flat surface. To make the floor softer and more quiet, you can use a 2 or 3 mm rubber underlayment under the tiles. The underlayment is a great idea for basement floors.
How does the polypropylene tile stand up to chemicles vs the pic tiles? Especially for garage applications where they may be exposed to petroleum products like gas and oil?
Both are very good, the polypropylene will perhaps stain less with car tires. The PVC tiles may need to be sealed.
Can the tiles be put on top of a badly cracked garage floor without any other preparation?
Yes these modular tiles can be installed over cracked concrete floors. Of course any uneven surfaces, may translate upward. Filling in major variations in surface height would be best.
How easily is it cut? I know it can be cut with a jigsaw. any recc on blade or tips and how fast does it go through the material?
Great question, we have good experience with a basic blade type or a table saw can work well or better also. This blog has more information about installing our garage tiles.
Is it designed to allow water to flow under it?
Yes any water underneath the tile will flow. Water could get down in between the tiles where they connect to each other, one tile to the next.
do they withstand Canadian winters and are they sold in Canada
Yes these garage floor tiles will be fine in all climates, we can ship to Canada, we stock the tiles here in our warehouse in Wisconsin.
We would like to use these in our basement laundry room. The floor has a small section with a dip in the concrete for the water to drain back in the sump pump. Are these sturdy enough to go over that? Or is there something we should do over that 2' area?
The tiles are rigid and will not bend, however they may want to angle at the seams.
once laid, can they be removed easily and reused?
Yes these tiles are designed to be installed repeatedly. In comparison to the Snap Diamond Garage Tiles, these tiles are easier to take apart.
Can they be used outside?
For outdoor use we recommend a perforated tile, such as our Staylock Perforated floor tile. Solid polypropylene tiles will expand in direct sunlight.
Can these be placed over carpet?
Yes this modular floor tile can be installed over carpet.
Is this slip resistant? We have an epoxy floor that, when even slightly damp, is very slippery.
Not really, all polypropylene floor tiles can be more slippery when wet. And the raised coin and or diamond treads are designed to provide a raised surface above the moisture level.
Are there beveled transition tiles to go from grade to tile edge( tripping hazard)?
Yes the border edges for these tiles, go from about 1/16th on an inch up to the tile. One of the images on this product page shows the ramps attached to some tiles.
Can you use over open carports and garages that have dirt And gravel for foundation ? Looking to cover area 25x30
Its possible if the grade is very flat and compacted very well. These tiles are generally designed to be installed over a hard flat surface. You might test some first in your space.
Can you lay on top of epoxy flooring?
Yes these garage floor tiles can be installed over any hard flat surface.
Would these work on gravel to be used as a hard flat surface to more easily roll a floor jack under a vehicle?
These tiles should only be used over concrete or asphalt indoors.
Can I pick up the tiles so I can save the shipping cost?
Absolutely. We would ask you to place the order first so we are ready when you come to pick the tiles up. Call one of our representatives to arrange.
