HiddenLock Coin Floor Tile Black - Waterproof flooring
Those seeking a durable floor tile for a home basement, workshop or trade show will appreciate the durability of our HiddenLock Coin Floor Tile Black product. Versatility is not a question with the HiddenLock coin top floor tiles, as this interlocking tile is an easy DIY project.
The surface of the tiles features a coin top pattern in a black color. The circles on the top of the tile approximate the size of a quarter, and they give you a little bit of traction when you're walking across the floor. This is especially nice when you're using in the basement when letting a wet pet that is dripping rain or snow and slush onto the floor. All of this moisture could cause slipping as you're walking on it, but the coin shapes yield just the right amount of traction for safe walking.
Choose this coin top floor tile for basement floors and entrance ways. If you'd like a different type of color or design in your flooring tiles, we do offer these in a slate style tile in a few colors in addition to black.
Two of the edges of this square shaped floor tile contain male tabs, while the other two sides contain hidden female slots. This allows the coin flooring tiles to fit together tightly without a great deal of force required on your part.
You'll just have to line up the tiles properly, ensuring that the tabs and slots are aligned. Once they are, you can step on the edges of the tile pieces, and they should pop together tightly. You do not need to place any glue on the seams of the square tiles to ensure that they stay tightly in place.
Disassembling the modular tile pieces is just as easy. Step on the edge of the tile that has the male tabs while pulling up on the adjacent tile with the female slots, and the two tiles should separate.
Because the interlocking tabs and slots are on the underside of the tiles, you won't see them after installation. All you'll see with these coin flooring tiles is a simple, narrow seam on the top of the tile.
Even though these tiles consist of a PVC plastic material, they do have a bit of flexibility to them, which makes them easier to manipulate. Each tile only weighs 1.25 pounds, which means one person will easily be able to lift and position these tiles properly without needing help from additional people for the installation.
Each of the tiles measures 1 by 1 foot, yielding 1 square foot of coverage. As the interlocking parts of the tiles are hidden beneath the tiles, you don't have to worry about losing any coverage area to the interlocking tabs, which does occur with tiles that have a puzzle style edge. This makes calculating the number of coin flooring tiles you need for your project a simple process.
We do not offer border pieces for this modular tile, so you may need to make some cuts to these tiles to ensure a flat edge or to ensure tiles will fit in a wall to wall installation. Use a straight edge and a sharp utility knife to cut the tiles to size, allowing them to fit properly at the edge of a room or around a support post in the middle of the room.
These coin flooring tiles measure 0.25 inches in thickness, which makes them relatively easy to cut when needed. Some people have greater success scoring the tiles deeply on the top and then folding them to break them apart successfully.
Although it's not necessary to glue down these tiles, some customers do choose to use adhesives, especially if you've created an island installation design.
If you plan to glue down these tiles, thoroughly clean the sub-floor, ensuring that the adhesive will adhere to the sub-floor properly. As long as the sub-floor is hard and flat, you should have very few problems creating a solid glue down installation that won't go anywhere.
Regardless of whether you glue the tiles to the sub-floor, you will not need to use any adhesive on the interlocking areas of the individual coin flooring tiles. The interlocking areas will hold tightly under the vast majority of normal usage conditions.
Two of the most popular types of modular floor tile options that we offer are the HiddenLock Slate Floor Tile product and the raised floor coin surface tiles. To help you decide between these two types of tiles, we've put together a list of a few things to consider as follows.
Moisture on Sub-Floor: If moisture is a problem on the sub-floor of your basement, you will want to install the raised tiles, as they permit air flow beneath the tiles that will allow the sub-floor to dry properly. The HiddenLock tiles sit tight to the sub-floor, preventing air flow that can dry the floor.
Tile Height: The HiddenLock tiles measure 0.25 inches in thickness, which means you create a minimal lip when the flooring is installed. In some types of installations, you may need to place a thinner type of flooring over the sub-floor. Raised floor tiles have a greater thickness, usually about 0.625 inches, versus the HiddenLock tiles.
