For those who have an interest in trying the sport of pickleball as an alternative to tennis, having the right playing surface is important. Greatmats offers several different pickleball court tiles that work for indoor or outdoor play.

These tiles create a firm court that will allow people to play with any kind of shoe they prefer while creating a safer surface than concrete. When using these tiles, you’ll be set for tournaments, lessons, and recreational practice time.

Size and Shape Options

Our manufacturer creates these pickleball court tiles in easily manageable dimensions of 1x1 foot apiece. The layout goes quickly with these lightweight tiles, as installers can move the tiles into place in very little time.

These tiles have a hidden interlocking edge. This means that the tabs and loops that connect the tiles together exist on the underside of the tiles. This differs from a jigsaw puzzle-style edge, where the jagged edge creates a slight loss of coverage size.

With these pickleball court tiles, customers receive the exact 1 square foot per tile that they would expect. Calculating the exact number of tiles required for a certain layout is an easy process.

Depending on the style and thickness selected, these tiles weigh in a range from a little less than 1 pound to almost 2 pounds, so one person can carry a large stack of them into and out of storage. Installation goes much faster with multiple people involved, though.

Material Options

Our list of pickleball court tiles includes those made for outdoor use, indoor use, or both.

The outdoor tiles are made of PVC plastic that can stand up to challenging weather. Customers do not need to disassemble the tiles and bring them indoors for storage to protect them from the elements.

Tiles made for outdoor use will contain perforations that extend through the entire thickness of 1/2 to 5/8 inches of these tiles. This allows any water from rain to drain through the tiles to the ground or concrete below, preventing puddles from forming on the top.

Pattern and Texture Options

When you want colorful flooring, our PVC pickleball court tiles have a wide range of colors available. Within each of the color families, you’ll find multiple shades of color as well. The primary colors available include:
  • Blue
  • Gray
  • Red
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Pink
  • Orange
  • Gray
  • Brown
  • Black

The manufacturer does not add a texture to the top of these tiles, as the materials in use provide the traction the players need while wearing tennis shoes or other athletic shoes.

Common Use Options

Our customers for these tiles include both residential customers and commercial customers seeking to create courts for pickleball. Some customers may even create a tennis court with these tiles, but they also use the space for pickleball, which requires a smaller playing space than tennis.

After installing your pickleball court tiles, you can use any paddles or other equipment for the sport on the flooring surface. You can install a net using permanent or temporary posts at the edges of the layout.

Customers may paint lines to signify the boundaries of the pickleball court on these tiles.

Installation Options

All these tiles for pickleball courts make use of hidden interlocking edges. This means the tabs and slots that hold the tiles together will be on the underside of the tile. Customers do not lose any of the expected coverage area of these 1 square foot tiles from the interlocking system’s design.

Just line up the tabs on one tile with the slots or loops on another tile and press the edges together. They will hold tightly, even under the stress of a pickleball workout, without the need for glue.

Should you want to remove the installation of the court, just pop the tiles apart and return them to storage.

Cleaning and Maintenance Requirements

Gymnasiums, schools, and athletic facilities appreciate these tiles because they are so easy to clean and maintain.

When cleaning tiles in an indoor installation, use a broom or vacuum to remove dry debris and dust. To mop the floor, apply a diluted basic household floor cleaner and allow it to dry for a few hours.

When installed outdoors, customers can simply clean these tiles by rinsing them with a spray nozzle attached to a garden hose. These PVC tiles will not suffer any damage from regular water exposure.
