Those working in a commercial kitchen will spend the majority of the day on their feet, moving back and forth from different preparation areas. The best commercial kitchen floor tile will deliver traction for the people working in the area, as well as a bit of cushioning.

Greatmats has several different styles of interlocking commercial kitchen floor tile products for sale that simplify creating the precise size of layout desired.

Size and Shape Options

Each tile has a square shape, covering a 3-by-3-foot space. With a single commercial kitchen floor tile spanning 9 square feet, installers can cover the entire space in the food prep area in far less time than they would require using smaller tile sizes.

At 5/8 inches in thickness, these solid tiles will create a little bit of a lip with the raised edge of the layout. Some customers opt for a wall-to-wall installation, which removes this potential trip hazard.

Each tile connects to an adjacent tile through the hidden interlocking edge connected to the underside of the tile.

Material Options

Each commercial kitchen floor tile consists of a durable rubber material, ensuring these tiles will last a long time. Rubber is easy to clean, which makes it a smart choice in an area that may end up with frequent spills, such as in a kitchen.

Different styles of rubber material are available to fit the exact needs of the kitchen area.

In areas where grease and oil spills will be infrequent, customers can select a standard type of non slip rubber or they can select a tile with a GritTuff surface that provides traction in areas with water spills. Rubber has a natural grippy surface, but the GritTuff layer provides extra protection against slips.

When spills of greasy or oily materials are frequent, customers can select our grease-proof commercial kitchen floor tile product. This type of mat has additional resistance to grease versus the standard mat. Customers can select the normal rubber surface or a GritTuff surface with these grease-proof mats.

Pattern and Texture Options

Beyond the option of ordering models with the GritTuff traction layer on the top of the mats, no other types of textures are available with these rubber mats. Each commercial kitchen floor tile is a solid black color.

The underside of these tiles has a design that sets it apart from many other rubber tile options. The back layer has a series of tiny nubs that lift the base of the tile away from the subfloor.

With the backside of the tile elevated, these nubs create drainage channels for water and other liquids to flow toward a floor drain. All of this occurs underneath the tiles, so those working in the kitchen never have exposure to the water as it flows toward the floor drain.

Common Use Options

Our customers will make use of these mats anywhere they need to provide extra traction and cushioning for people who will be standing and working in wet or oily areas.

Because spills of liquids are common in commercial kitchens, these mats are a perfect choice in these areas. Laundry facilities, dry cleaners, and laundromats also may use these mats, as they will absorb noise from machines, while resisting water.

Because rubber does not soak up water, it is the ideal material to use at a dishwashing station or in other areas of the kitchen where moisture is a frequent problem.

Additionally, rubber has a little bit of give to it, creating a slight cushioning in the floor that helps people who must stand for long periods during the day. The cushioned rubber will reduce the stress on the hips, knees, back, and ankles of workers, allowing them to stand and work more comfortably and for longer periods of time.

Installation Options

One of the advantages of these interlocking rubber mats is that installers do not need to use adhesive to connect them together or to adhere them to the subfloor.

Each tile has two edges with tabs and two edges with loops. Line up the tabs on one tile with the loops on an adjacent tile and pop the edges together. These interlocking edges hold the tiles together tightly, even when they are under the stress of constant foot traffic.

Should the installer need to cut a tile to fit in a small space against the wall, just use a utility knife and a straight edge. Each tile measures 5/8 inches in thickness.

Cleaning and Maintenance Requirements

Our rubber tiles do not require any special maintenance or cleaning techniques. To remove dry solids and soils, just use a broom or a vacuum cleaner.

To remove stubborn stains or sticky materials, use a neutral pH cleaner diluted with warm water and a mop. Do not use bleach. After applying the cleaning solution to the surface of the mats, allow them to air dry. If you have a floor drain available, you can rinse the tiles with a hose and nozzle.
