Outdoor Gym Mats, Tiles, and Flooring Rolls

Although most commercial and home gymnasiums prefer to set up workouts indoors, some gymnasiums occasionally set up workouts outdoors. Greatmats offers multiple outdoor gym flooring products that can stand up to tough weather while continuing to fit into your budget.

We offer flooring that makes use of artificial turf, PVC, plastic, and rubber, all of which have impressive levels of durability. When your cross fitness workout needs more space than you can provide indoors, our outdoor gym flooring keeps the area safe for challenging workouts.

Size and Shape Options

You can find outdoor gymnasium floors in a wide range of configurations.

Some people prefer to work with tiles rather than heavy flooring rolls because they do not need special equipment to move the tiles in and out of place. The layout process goes slower when using tiles, however, because they don’t cover as much space in a short amount of time like a roll of flooring.

Our outdoor workout tile and mat options are available in a range of sizes, but 2 by 2 feet is the most common size. You can also find sizes of 1 by 1 foot or 2.5 by 2.5 feet. The thickness measurements of the tiles range from 9/16 inches to 2.75 inches.

Some customers prefer rolls of turf for outdoor gym flooring for the best installation option. The majority of our rolls have a 15-foot width. Customers can then order the length they prefer. The rolls range from 3/4 inches to 7/8 inches in thickness.

Material Options

Customers will want a durable and waterproof type of outdoor gym flooring.

Rubber is the most common material found with these floors, as it can stand up to all kinds of weather. Rubber is also a cheap material to install when trying to build a huge workout space.

Artificial turf rolls are another popular selection for those seeking ideas for outdoor gym flooring. This style of flooring consists of artificial turf blades on the top layer with a foam backing layer that provides cushioning.

In areas where water is a frequent problem, PVC plastic tiles with perforations that extend through the entire thickness of the tile are a good choice. The water drains through to the ground underneath, making the floor ready for workouts faster after a rainstorm.

Pattern and Texture Options

Customers can find a range of colors and textures with these styles of flooring.

The rubber tiles often have a black base, but they can feature multiple color flecks over the base color. Some rubber tiles have no black color in them, relying on other colors such as blue, green, gray, red, orange, silver, off-white, and brown.

Our artificial turf also has a large number of different colors available, although green is the most common color. You can select among black, white, and blue as well.

Common Use Options

These floors excel in delivering workout spaces inside or outside that are durable and safe. With all the different color options available, they also look amazing, creating a fun and unique workout space for your outdoor gym.

Cross training workouts and plyometric workouts outdoors are common uses for rubber flooring. If your gym sets up a lifting area with free weights outdoors, thick rubber tiles can handle the weight and force.

When creating a space for sprint workouts or sports workouts outdoors, artificial turf flooring is one of the best options. It has a cushioning layer of rubber or foam underneath that protects the hip, knee, and ankle joints of the athlete during workouts.

It’s also possible to use the artificial turf in areas where sled workouts will be taking place outdoors.

Installation Options

When installing rubber or PVC plastic tiles at your gym, they often have interlocking edges that simplify the process. With some extremely thick rubber tiles, you may need to glue the edges together. Thinner tiles usually fit together tightly without having to add glue.

Some rubber tiles require a glue down installation or use a Quad Blok installation system, which hooks the pegs on the underside of adjacent tiles together.

When installing a roll of artificial turf outdoors, the installer needs to secure it to the ground. When going over concrete or asphalt, installers could glue the roll to the ground. They could also pin the edges of the roll of turf to treated wood buried around the perimeter of the workout space.

Cleaning and Maintenance Requirements

Outdoor gym flooring does not require a lot of time to keep it clean, which is important for a busy gymnasium setting.

Customers will primarily want to rinse the tiles with a garden hose and sprayer to wash away any dust or small debris. A leaf blower may also take care of the cleaning process in a quick manner.

When you need to deploy a more thorough cleaning process, you can mop the rubber or PVC flooring using a neutral pH cleaner.
