Polagard AG 0.75 Gallon 2 Part Can be used over concrete, stucco, mineral composites, bricks/masonry, fibreglass composites, most metals, EIFS (need to apply Polaprime 25), porous stone, non-porous stone, wood, wood composites, structural steel, industrial equipment and other surfaces.
This application process produces a hard-wearing protective coating that allows an existing flooring to provide resistance to many harsh liquids, such as gasoline, oil, and automotive lubricants. It also resists damage from road salt.
Size and Shape Options
Our garage floor coating for sale ships in two cans, similar to paint cans. The two cans together weigh 9 pounds for shipping purposes.
To create the coating, add Part A to Part B and stir the solution together using a mechanical E.P. rated mixer for at least 3 minutes.
Once combined, customers can cover about 187 square feet with the Polagard AG solution, which is an aliphatic urethane.
This coating will lengthen the lifespan of any subflooring, creating a greater value for the customer over the long run.
Material Options
This garage floor coating solution can be hazardous if ingested or inhaled. Some of the warnings for the Part A hardener include:
- Causes skin irritation
- May cause eye irritation
- May cause respiratory reaction with inhalation
- Do not ingest
- Flammable liquid and vapor
The warnings for the Part B resin include:
- Slightly irritating to skin
- Potential eye irritation
- Irritations to the respiratory tract with high vapor concentrations
- Do not ingest
- Flammability
Pattern and Texture Options
Upon application, our garage floor coating will harden to create a waterproof coating on the flooring. This coating also resists gasoline and oil.
It will set quickly after application, gaining its full strength and durability in very little time. It does not leave a sticky residue on the flooring.
Applying this garage floor coating over existing flooring materials will allow them to resist age-induced embrittlement, lengthening the existing flooring’s lifespan.
Common Use Options
This type of coating can go over a wide range of types of flooring in either a home setting or in a commercial setting, giving these areas the desired level of protection. The flooring options include, but are not limited to:
- Concrete
- Stucco
- Mineral composites
- Brick
- Masonry
- Fiberglass composites
- Metal
- Structural steel
- Insulation
- Stone (porous and non-porous)
- Wood
- Wood composites
- Industrial equipment
- Plastic
- Rubber tiles
The Polagard AG coating will protect these surfaces from graffiti, vandalism, weather damage, chemical spills, chemical attacks, and abrasions. It meets or exceeds all regulations and requirements from the Department of Transportation for sound walls, bridges, and Jersey barriers.
When used in a garage where a mechanic may be working on a car or truck, the coating will prevent a porous concrete subfloor from soaking up liquids like gas and oil. It also prevents staining on the floor from rubber tires. It blocks a pickup of concrete sealer from car tires, called hot-tire pickup.
Installation Options
To apply this coating, it can be a DIY project, or you may want to hire professional contractors.
Start by cleaning the surface on which you will apply the coating. It needs to be free of any dry particles and dust. Clean up any oil spills or other substances that may affect the ability of the coating to adhere to the surface.
Installers can choose to apply the coating with a clear finish, or they can add a treatment to create a tinted finish.
After mixing the resin and the hardener together per the instructions, allow any air bubbles created during the mixing process to escape. Then installers can roll the solution onto the wall or floor. They also can use a paint brush or an airless sprayer.
On certain types of surfaces, especially those with a high level of porosity or a significant texture, you may have to apply two or three coatings for a complete covering and for full protection.
One of the advantages of this type of coating is that it will set and harden quickly, giving customers the protection they need in very little time. Do not allow precipitation or moisture onto the coating for at least 4 hours after application.
Do not apply the coating to a frozen subfloor. Only apply the coating when the temperature will remain above 40 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 8 hours.
Cleaning and Maintenance Requirements
After applying this garage floor coating, you can clean the surface of the flooring in the same manner you would without the coating. Just sweep the floor to remove dry debris. Mop the floor as needed.
Should someone create graffiti or spill chemicals on the flooring or on a wall, the coating will protect the subflooring or wall, giving you the ability to clean the markings. Removal of these markings will not damage the underlying material or the Polagard coating.
