Basement Flooring

When considering what type of basement flooring would be best for your house or commercial facility, there are a few questions you should ask yourself. First, how do you plan to use the room? Will it be a home gym? A recreational area? A play room? Knowing how you plan to utilize your space will help to find the flooring thats best for your application.

Another consideration: does your basement have any moisture issues? If so, you will want to look for a floor product that resists moisture and is waterproof. With the exception of rubber products, our basement flooring products all qualify.

Finally, will you be flooring your basement entirely with a wall-to-wall installation or are you looking for an island layout to place somewhere in the middle of the room? Certain products come with ramps, borders, and corners where others are available in rolls, center-only tiles, or straightedge tiles. Be sure to check our "features" tabs on various products to determine which ones come with edge piecing and which do not.

Basement flooring from Greatmats can turn your dark, hard basement into a soft and fun recreational area. We offer a variety of basement flooring options in rubber, foam, carpet, PVC and vinyl. We also carry waterproof modular tiles for basements where moisture can be a challenge. Each of these flooring types comes with it's own advantages. One of the most popular basement flooring types we carry is foam. Lightweight and colorful, it is a waterproof solution for cold, dark basements. Soft, EVA foam flooring can turn a hard concrete surface into a fun play area for lounging or play.

Rubber basement flooring is available in both interlocking rubber tiles and rolls for exercise rooms and home gym weight rooms. Choose from 1/4 inch up to one-inch thick tiles. We have both recycled rubber content and full-color rubber flooring options.

A waterproof tile solution that looks great and provides excellent durability is our MaxTile. It can be installed repeatedly without any compromise to the tile. Quickly snap these tiles together to create a permanent or temporary flooring solution without adhesives. This flooring option can be easily cut to fit with a table saw for a wall to wall installation. Max tiles are available in several popular designs including wood and slate. You can choose from light oak, dark oak, maple plank, cherry, walnut, slate, or stone. This product is our most popular basement flooring solution.

Another outstanding basement solution is the interlocking Interlocking Carpet Royal. These mats provide a soft and warm solution for your basement floor. Like our vinyl tiles, they are waterproof. A thick, foam bottom provides excellent comfort and fatigue relief on hard basement floors. These tiles are also used frequently in trade show booths for people who have to stand for hours. Like other foam products, if they get wet, you can easily take up your floor, dry the area below, and re-install them with no harm done. Carpet-top foam tiles provide warmth, comfort and a great appearance. They are available in several designer colors. This carpeting is much softer than similar tiles on the market today.

A great carpet top floor option is our CarpetFlex floor tile. This flooring option features an interlocking durable plastic base with a carpeted surface. The raised nature of this tile allows airflow beneath the tiles.

Interlocking rubber flooring is a great option if you are considering putting a home gym in your basement. The tiles are simple to install and protect both the concrete and exercise equipment. They require no adhesive to install and can be easily taken up and moved when its time to relocate. Rubber is the primary flooring choice for most residential and commercial gym owners.

Rolled rubber is the least expensive rubber flooring available. Like rubber tiles, it also protects your floor and equipment. Rolled rubber is often found in larger installations such as commercial gyms but it can also work in residential basements provided you have the ability to work with the heavy rolls. Rolled rubber ships via freight delivery, except for our 4x10 ft x 1/4 inch thick rubber rolls. As a precautionary measure, we recommend a tape-down installation with this product to keep the seams from overlapping or the ends from curling. Adhesive is also an option for permanent installations.

We carry a number of options for basement flooring including interlocking foam tiles and modular wood-look snap-together flooring tiles. Interlocking rubber tiles and rolls of rubber are popular for home gym floors. Many of our basement floor options are great for home gym and exercise rooms, kids play rooms, and family rooms. Our waterproof MAX Tile provides a durable and easy to clean wood grain or stone look in a raised tile.

We carry several interlocking foam flooring products for kids playrooms, these also provide a safe and soft basement floor surface. Rubber material is available in both interlocking rubber tiles and rolls for exercise rooms and home gym weight rooms. Choose from 1/4 inch up to one-inch thick tiles. We have both recycled rubber content and full-color rubber flooring options.

Installation of basement flooring is generally an easy, do-it-yourself project as most of our interlocking and modular flooring types do not require any glue. Cleaning our basement flooring is similar to other hard surface household residential flooring. However, remember to always use a neutral ph cleaner when cleaning rubber flooring material. Solvents and alkaline or acidic cleaners should be avoided.
