South USA Grappling Association Jucao Cup Tournament Preview

The South USA Grappling Association is hosting its third annual Jucao Cup at the Chappapeela Sports Park in Hammond, Louisiana on July 23. With more than 150 competitors already registered and just under a week remaining in the registration period, the in-house event is shaping up to be a exciting tournament.
Tournament organizer Rafael Ellwanger expects approximately 250 competitors from his 19 Gracie United gyms.

The event was designed to create a safe environment for kids and adult beginners to get a taste for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition.

Professor Ailson ''Jucao'' Brites will be traveling from New York to watch and teach a clinic at the event. Jucao brings 40 years of jiu jitsu experience with him. He was recently named the 2016 Master 5 European Open Champion and 2016 Master 5 Absolute European Open champion. Formerly the top-ranked Master 4 competitor in the world, Jucao is currently among the top 40 competitors in the world in the Male Black Belt Master 5 Division, according to the most recent International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Rankings.

''For the first time, we will have brown belts fighting,'' Ellwanger said. ''It will be a great experience to compete in front of Professor. ... I am so proud of this team and what we accomplished as a group. ... We are looking for a good feedback from him in how to improve their games and strategies.''
