Martial Arts Inspiring Story - Alicia Biondo - Commack MMA

a year after I started kickboxing to get in shape in 2011. In 2014, I took another step in my journey and started my journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. At this point, my weight had gotten out of control.

I was busy taking care of my special needs child, working, and taking care of everyone but myself. I decided to go to a gym down the block that advertised MMA. There I met an amateur MMA fighter and trainer who taught me the basics. I trained with him 5-6 days a week for about 3 months.

It was 3 months and 30 pounds later I met Professor Muller at Commack MMA who invited me to check out the school. I fell in love with their BJJ and striking program. When I started at Commack MMA I was 230 pounds, had little skill but a lot of drive. Six months after starting at Commack MMA I went to my first grappling tournament. I first competed at 175 pounds. Two months later, I competed at 160 pounds. And six weeks after that competition, I competed at 155.

I walked around at 250 pounds, the heaviest I ever was in my life. I was just 24 years old at that time. I was miserable, never felt right, and couldn't find the right tools to help me lose weight despite all dieting efforts. BJJ changed my life; it saved my life.

I went from 250 pounds to 155 in under a year. I not only gained my health and motivation, but a family. My teammates are some of the most supportive compassionate people of my life. BJJ also helped me find my soulmate. My first trainer came to CMMA. We both just received our blue belts under Tom Muller. I could not picture my life without BJJ and MMA. It is an all consuming lifestyle. And I couldnt be ANY happier!
