Interlocking foam mats are an excellent, and economical, flooring option for both studio and home martial arts facilities. Available in a variety of colors, thicknesses, densities, and surface types, martial arts flooring is specific to the type of art you practice as well as the type of studio you would like to create. At Greatmats, we carry martial arts flooring that is great for Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Taekwondo, grappling, BJJ, and many other martial arts.

Before you decide which type of martial arts floor is best for your application, there are some things to determine. Do you want to train barefoot or in shoes/boots? Will you require mats that provide excellent cushion for throws? Does the type of martial art you practice require participants to spend a great deal of time on the ground? What colors do you need to match the decor of your martial arts studio or home martial arts gym? How much are you willing to spend on your martial arts flooring?

How large is the area you'd like to cover? For smaller dojos or home applications, we generally recommend our 2x2 foot mats. These are typically less expensive than our larger 1 x 1 meter mats and can often ship via ground delivery rather than via a freight truck. In smaller areas, it can be nice to have the smaller tile size because, for wall-to-wall installations, you will probably waste less material when you cut the floor to fit. For larger installations, the meter mats are often preferred. Although they are generally a bit more money and the delivery can be more expensive, your finished floor will have fewer seams in it.

To clean your martial arts flooring, simply wipe with a damp cloth or damp mop with hot water and a mild common floor cleaner. This is generally all the maintenance your martial arts mats will need.
