Foam Puzzle Mat Installation for 2x2 Mats with Universal Interlocks

Installing 2x2 foot foam puzzle mats with universal interlocking edges is simple. For floating or island installations, no tools are necessary.

For wall-to-wall installations, all you need is a tape measure or ruler, a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. Glue, tape or other adhesives are not required.

Begin with a clean, hard and flat floor surface. Start in a corner and leave a 1/4 inch gap between the tiles and wall. Foam floors may expand with heat and humidity.

Remove the attached border strips on the sides in which you'd like to expand your flooring. Connect your tiles by pushing the puzzle pieces together. It does not matter which direction the tiles face with universal interlocking tiles as each interlocking edge is the same. Work your way out evenly from the corner until no more full tiles will fit.

Measure the distance between the installed tiles and walls or other obstacles. Mark the puzzle mat you'd like to cut with with a pen and cut it to fit using a utility knife. Be sure to use a straight edge guide and sharp blade.

Lay the cut tiles to fit flush with the remaining walls - minus your 1/4 inch gap for expansion. This will prevent your foam floor from buckling.

Keep in mind that you may be able to use the scraps for other smaller sections, due to the universal interlocking design.

If you need a finished edge for islands or a floating installation, reconnect border strips in those areas.

Foam puzzle mats come in several different colors and can be installed in any color combination.

EVA foam puzzle mats are non-absorbent and easy to keep clean. Simply vacuum without a rotating brush, sweep with a broom or use a damp mop with common household floor cleaner.
